so there's a ten-mile buffer zone around Chaco Canyon National Historical Park that prevents oil, gas, and mining projects on public lands within that area. the US Department of the Interior wants to remove this buffer and make these public lands available to oil, gas, & mining companies.
one of many reasons this is a terrible idea: these lands are sacred to local tribes. MAGA means continuing our proud tradition of screwing Indigenous peoples out of their lands.
you* can make a public comment about this decision before it is final. but hurry: it closes Wed July 29!

there's a pretty good rundown of the situation here: https://www.kob.com/new-mexico/public-comment-period-underway-on-plan-to-open-land-around-chaco-canyon-to-mining/
it's not long. give it a read and then drop a few thoughtful words in the public comment form, please.
*I don't know if your comments will be taken into account if you're outside the US, but the basic form didn't ask me where I lived or whether I'm a citizen.
