And now we go live to #TramEM where the team from London are currently on the course.

Just got my Iridium bill for the bus tracking at EMF 😬
Hahahaha. Every Short Burst Data (SBD) transaction is itemised, so the bill is a 74-page PDF! Hey, @q@glauca.space, they're still doing it!
There should be an equivalent of ikea specifically for engineers. We could call it jkea.

@fadedoasis I only post about my crimes when a) the statute of limitations has expired, and b) they are objectively funny.

Giving money to JK Rowling is functionally equivalent to giving money to the IDF.
JK Rowling will use your money to genocide trans people.
The IDF will use your money to genocide Palestinians.
Assuming that TGV speed records continue to increase linearly, they'll achieve Mach 1 in 2092.

I keep leaving my car at the service centre because it's such a short walk from my house that I forget that I'm supposed to take it with me!

@jscholes@dragonscave.space @Vordus@chitter.xyz I work for a big engineering firm where acronyms make information less accessible for everyone, doubly so for colleagues who rely on screen readers. Which was the original point. "A11y" is less accessible for everyone.

@jscholes@dragonscave.space @Vordus@chitter.xyz I can only speak for my partially-sighted colleagues, and they hate it. YMMV.

@KiwiEV No hidden meaning. The aspiration of "for all mankind" is the most important, and critical thing, that we can aspire to as a species.

@emily_s@mastodon.me.uk I've always thought them to be elegant, from an engineering perspective. Economical on material, quick to make using available techniques, erectible by people on the ground without a crane. All in all, a really effective design.

@Cadbury_Moose@wandering.shop @JugglingWithEggs@mstdn.social @greg_harvey@tooting.ch I would not be shocked if there was Russian money involved. A lot of far-right and far-left groups are funded, at least in part, by Russia as part of their campaign to stir shit in the West.

@fesshole@mastodon.social I'm a company editor and I've rejected reports and presentations for the same reason. Accessibility is important!
Stuck in analysis paralysis over overcurrent protection for the 12V system in the camper van.
1) I can either use MCBs or blade fuses. I would prefer to use MCBs because they are resetable and I might be a long way from somewhere I can buy a replacement blade fuse.
2) If I use MCBs, I have a maximum of 6 ways. It's an 8 way unit, but I need 2 of them for the solar input.
3) If I use blade fuses, I have a maximum of 8 ways across two fuseholders, but I still need to protect the fuseholders because they have a maximum combined current of 30A each. This means either MCBs or midi fuses upstream of the fuseholders.
4) The main consumers are...
a) 2x Power Pole outlets (max 35A each)
b) Fridge (10A)
c) Lighting (6A)
d) Network (6A)
e) Ventilation (6A)
f) Diesel heater (10A)
g) Water pump (10A)
h) CPAP (6A)
5) The CPAP should be on a dedicated circuit. I don't want a trip elsewhere to cause me a terrible night's sleep. I also don't want a trip to ruin my food, so the fridge should also have a dedicated circuit.
6) While some consumers could share MCBs / fuses, certain combinations are likely to want power at the same time, e.g. water pump and diesel heater because the diesel heater also heats my hot water.
7) Sub-panels are permissible, e.g. I could have a 4-way fuseholder backed by a 30A MCB for the kitchen area, and another 4-way fuseholder towards the back of the van for water, heating and bed area.
