Two Common Bluebottles (Graphium sarpedon) spotted at Rifle Range Nature Park, Singapore on 29 June 2025. Getting shots of one these fast moving butterflies can be a challenge, so it was good to be able to get two in one shot.

The cocoon of a genus Cyana moth spotted at Dairy Farm Nature Park, Singapore on 20 April 2025. The cocoon is protected by a 'cage' made from the spines of the caterpillar itself that it weaved together. Amazing architecture.

A Sunda Colugo (Galeopterus variegatus) spotted at Windsor Nature Park, Singapore on 12 April 2026. An active fellow, it started grooming itself, then turned to gaze curiously at the humans taking photos of it. 🙂
Colugos can glide huge distances between trees using a gliding membrane, (patagium) that stretches between their limbs.

A Bronze Flutterer (Rhyothemis obsolescens) spotted at MacRitchie Reservoir Park on 24 May 2026. An uncommon dragonfly with eye-catching bronze coloured wings. Caught this one with the sun giving off beautiful reflections from the wings too.

This large mantis was the size of a human hand.

There are several species of Sailor butterflies here, making field IDs challenging. So it is usually shoot first, ID later.

Close encounter with the Banded Woodpecker (Chrysophlegma miniaceum) at Windsor Nature Park, Singapore on 19 April 2026. They were not concerned with the excited person shooting 2–3 metres away, while they were browsing.
The Banded Woodpecker is an uncommon resident bird with lovely coloration.

A Saltwater Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) resting near the main bridge at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Singapore on 10 May 2026. The first two shots shows how much of the crocodile was underwater. It later swam away.
Crocodiles are common at this nature reserve and observed with caution.
