Think about the "This program cannot be run in the DOS mode" in almost every PE binary around the world. Even the 64-bit ones.

okay so I started playing #ForzaHorizon6 recently cuz of course why not, why shouldn’t I put yet another 160h into game that does vroom vroom
but there’s that character creation menu with predefined faces, pronouns and names - as in FH5 they recorded voice lines for every name supposedly
so I chose „Nia” thinking the devs would definitely know that in game set in Japan you should record this as „nya~”
but no, it’s „nee-ah”, so much wasted potential

Of course it always can be improved, but this is art, not a production code, it can stay like that and still be beautiful
disclaimer: my grandma's family is almost exclusively set of painters, sculptors, musicians and such - so it’s not like I’ve seen „fine arts” for the first time here - this picture could happily be exposed at their house with no shame at all :)

Prawdopodobnie będę na PIWO więc możemy się zgadać, szczególnie że mogę mieć temacik. Nie żebym się chwalił, ale od 2024 puściłem do printu Typstem ksiązkę (fikcję, nie żadne papiery naukowe), kilka portfolio, brand guideline'y, CVki, ulotki, wizytówki i inne tego typu pierdoły. I już kilka razy udało mi się powiesić ten syf usuwając sierotki przez show rule z regexami xD

Może będzie cięższa, ale dostajesz classy walizkę w zestawie, maszyna ma wszystkie elementy metalowe i przeżyje apokalipsę, a przy tym naprawisz ją młotkiem i kluczem.
Chociaż wiem, że proponuję opcję niecodzienną, alternatywa to SilverCrest z Lidla i do podstawowych zadań się też nada xD

@seri@hachyderm.io BTW: Maybe I can’t read properly, but I couldn’t find any information that Rust9x requires modern Windows host to build the toolchain. Does it?
Lost like an hour trying to build it somehow on macOS/aarch64 or linux/x86_64. Looks like it fails even when I change “build” to proper triplet in bootstrap.toml and I’m assuming it’s not possible to go that way? I really wanted to avoid running current %WINVER% in 2026 :/

@j-g00da@donotsta.re @seri@hachyderm.io „to create a dos executables” is rather a wide topic and quick search throws these that don’t seem to be working at all, or some one-shots. But as I said, maybe the 9x compat will suffice in this case. However, if there would be a way to emit a 16-bit 8086 Rust in real mode, that would be a different story - but that’s a separate topic.
Actually, the chicken is talking about Sunday but it’s Friday - I need to learn Rust first ;)

Actually, after some thought I might be better of communicating with sound hardware via Windows APIs, but still wondering if fullscreen text mode is possible on W9x with Rust9x - if I remember correctly that combo actually „suspended” Windows and you wasn’t able to call its APIs as it was more like „DOS compatibility” territory. But I have to check.

But I am still looking forward to the LLVM #m68k target which is quite off and on thingy for last 7(?) years and trying to maybe build something on Amiga (iirc someone on the damascene did that already but without any source or info) or TI-89 series calcs.

W tym roku się nie załapałem bo miejsca zeszły na pniu i pozamykali rejestrację, a założyli że będzie jak w '25 gdzie było pięć osób na krzyż.
