(seriously though: more and more French people have semi-adequate mastery of English, esp millennials and younger. Still not as good as other EU countries, but it's improving. It used to be embarrassingly bad. Now it's just bad.)

@WataruTenkawa_1@social.vivaldi.net becoming a parent, and then being a parent for a while (my kid is 9yo now). Life takes a whole other meaning and purpose when a tiny person depends on you. Everything else becomes way less important than that tiny person.
"Deeply falling in love" is a close second though, as I've recently discovered that feeling...

@christophehenry@mastodon.social J'en veux beaucoup à Ubuntu d'avoir poussé Pulse bien trop tôt. Ya eu presque 2 ans où l'audio marchait très mal (voire pas du tout) à cause de drivers pas compatibles. Sauf que la solution brutale "apt-get purge pulseaudio" marchait systématiquement...
Ça a donné une mauvaise image de Linux, de Pulse, de Lennart. Ça a mis des années à rattraper les dégâts d'image de ce choix. Encore aujourd'hui, la réputation (à tort) pourrie de l'audio sous linux...

"Debugging/reading code is 3x harder than writing code. Thus, if you write the cleverest code you can, you are by definition not smart enough to debug it.
Write dumb code."
He wasn't my favorite prof, but this is a genuine nugget of wisdom.
