Nice example of client side COG Tiff rendering. Why is this cool? it streams and visualizes potentially large geospatial rasters directly in the browser without servers. Cloud Native Design does things simpler, cheaper, more efficient (see also https://blog.heuel.org/2025/02/swiss-roof-explorer/#cloud-native-design-simpler-cheaper-more-efficient)
Stephan Heuel
Hi, I’m Stephan Heuel: a husband, dad, and engineering manager based in Switzerland. I’m a nerd for sustainability, data, and GIS, and I enjoy driving innovation while shaping teams and structures to achieve meaningful, end-to-end results.
RE: @simon@fedi.simonwillison.net
I agree with Simon that coding agents like Claude Code or Codex are fascinating and one of the revelations to me in 2025. Exposing this to non-coders has huge potential, but also (as always with AI) even higher risks. Next to the price tag, I wouldn't advise anyone non-technical to use Cowork in a professional environment other than for personal research. I wouldn't put "security worries aside".
A climate adaptation startup is looking for a #uxdesign partner (independent or agency) to sharpen key user interactions in their platform.
If you’re into turning real-world workflows into clear and trustworthy UX, you should definitely check out this PDF: https://resilens.com/rfp/2026-02-10_RFP_UX_Design_Resilens.pdf. Maybe we’ll bump into each other when making adaptation happen!
Please boost.

I have two tickets for https://gessnerallee.ch/veranstaltungen/monatsthema-zuerich-little-big-tech-city tomorrow evening in Zürich and unfortunately I cannot go.
Please DM me and I will sent you the ticket, free of charge.

@scott@sfba.social with #geobeer in Switzerland, we use https://ti.to and it has served us well. Currently no events planned at https://eobeer.ch though
We should prioritize using AI to assist humans in navigating the forthcoming surge of software code.
I built an agent skill that takes any folder of code and generates C4 diagrams and a local interactive HTML explorer for architecture review, details in my blog post at https://blog.heuel.org/2026/02/an-agentic-skill-for-interactive-c4-architecture-diagrams/
As an example, take a look at the architecture of NanoClaw, an alternative to the hyped AI agent platform #OpenClaw.
One of the nicer things about using GitHub is that "GitHub Actions" can act like cron jobs, so you don't need any server to automate workflows. I use this to send out newsletters, https://github.com/ping13/listmonk-rss.
Unfortunately, scheduled GH actions have been broken at least since last week: https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/185081 I do hope this comes back soon.
@scott@sfba.social geobeer.ch events are also free. Tito helps to limit the number of people by issuing free tickets because demand is usually higher than the available seats per event. Maybe @rastrau@swiss.social can comment on his recent experience. AFAIK we never paid for tito.
I love Venn diagrams - who doesn't? Tonight, I stumbled upon a mathematical paper by Bálint Csanády that introduces a new way to generate a Venn diagram: https://arxiv.org/html/2601.06980v1: "[...] Unlike most classical constructions, our method emphasizes readability and customizability by using shaped sinusoids and amplitude scaling. ... and there is even a Python package: https://pypi.org/project/vennfan/ (untested)
