Quirky, craft and art driven, beardy, breadmaking, petrolheaded, videogamey, music-y, bakey, sculpty, doodly dude, knits and crochets amigurumi and is a total bookworm. KPOP Widower with a mild appreciation for the heavier stuff. Nearly always follow ya back! Love drawing stuff for people so if you want a sketch or a doodle, just ask! LGBTQIA+ friendly. All opinions are my own and yep I rant about work from time to time!
#ScribesAndMakers - 24 Mar. Do you have a sewing kit in your home?
Of course I do, in a Dutch biscuit tin, I thought this was the law?
Somewhere out there I like to imagine there's someone in Holland who has a ton of biscuits stashed in a sewing basket.
Excitedly rushed to the door when I heard the postie thinking it was my new laptop stickers. Nope, just a bowel cancer screening kit. Great. #beingoldsucks
Ugh I hate when there’s no transition between cooler weather and the feeling of being thrown head first into a blast furnace
Couple of boomers we know who are climate change deniers and vociferous advocates of continuing to use Fossil Fuels "Because all that green rubbish is just that, rubbish" are now buying an electric car because of the price of fuel. So if there's one good thing that comes of the current situation it's that boomers suddenly fall in love with electric vehicles when it looks like oil's going to punch 'em in the wallet.
So many cool people on here- cool in the right way, not the twatty way
Tonight’s dinner is air fried sweet potatoes with caramelised onions and lentils, with sneaky little steamed bao buns as a side!
Woke up to the fact that The Fifth Element is 29 years old, and celebrates its 30th anniversary next year. 30....years....HOW HOW HOW
Finished “Dance Dance Dance” by Haruki Murakami which is more than he did…. What a shockingly shite ending!
I think it's finally beginning to dawn on work that AI is fucktastically expensive, and just not worth that investment for anyone other than folk who are entirely delusional about the benefits
Dim realisation this morning as I was giving a presentation for new starters at our place that I've been working in IT since 1986.
Forty.
Years.
I swear, in those four decades I've heard just about every lie it's possible for someone to concoct on the basis that they did something they shouldn't have, got fucked by it, and tried to wriggle out of it by calling in IT.
If there's been one constant in my career in IT, it's that people think absolutely nothing of dropping some steaming festering pile of absolute shite on you before a long weekend, brushing off their hands as they do so, so they can enjoy their weekend knowing they've just offloaded said steaming festering pile of absolute shite on someone else.
Kiddo had to quit being a young leader for Brownies because of the now compulsory DBS checks, which are handled by a US firm known for harvesting and scraping personal data and photos. Welcome to 2026.
Yay more mandatory infosec training and a new special section on AI that is quite the work of dramatic fiction.
Turned out ok I think but those bao buns were crap…
My wife was mocking me because she said I couldn’t write a bodice ripper to save my life, so I laid out a story about the romance between a doge palace castrati and a Venetian lady in waiting set in 17th century Venice and she made this face -____-
The Kpop Demon Hunters McDonalds ad is a hoot, real shame it's only available in the US. At least they know their market though and didn't just do them as kids meals
Wow, this is exactly what I've been looking for - a modern-day Oids homage. Yes please for a fiver! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3140290/Evoids/
Musings on York Uni taster day...
1) Some parents need to let their damned kids go! Yeah I'm talking about you folk who 'gatecrashed' the student free lunch and the student course sessions despite being told not to! You can't go to Uni with them, you zeebs, let them get on with their lives!
2) Yorkshire people are as friendly as you've heard. A teenage boy apologised for nearly running me over at a crossing on his bike, and I mean PROPERLY apologised. We don't get that darn sarf
Now my brain is trying to remember all 9 of the Wiltshire hill figures and carvings Including Uffington there's Hackpen Hill, Pusey, Cherhill, Marlborough, Westbury (though the concrete monstrosity there now covers a much older more stylised horse like the Uffington one), The Bulford Kiwi (yeah I know it's not a horse but still!), Fovant Down, Alton Barnes, Broad Town and a relatively new one (1999) at Devizes.
Oh dear. Our place is once again making rumblings about returning to the office for a minimum of 2 days a week. Thankfully our managers are turning a deaf ear to this request, which has absolutely no business worth, no value, no basis for the request other than "We don't trust you to be working from home"
Googling insect species always dishes up some exotic thing that the actual bug you’re looking for just vaguely resembles. Which is how we misidentified a common window gnat as a long legged assassin bug!
Oh dear, DLC dropped for Roadcraft, that'll be me lost to that game for the next (looks at watch)...er....forever I guess. At least it'll wean me off Valheim which has rapidly turned from "Oooh, ahh" to "Ugh, Argh" in terms of grinding and frustration.
Exhausted after a horrible hot night where the neighbour from Hell and his horrible clan resumed their “let’s make everyone else’s summer as miserable as possible” annual campaign of being noise terrorists and burning things in their back garden. Cunts.
