@ednl@mastodon.social Two reasons: First, it relies on frameworks and bug fixes not present in previous macOS versions.
Second, the new UI is designed to work well with Liquid Glass. It doesn't work as well with previous versions of macOS. We considered designing two different UIs, one for Tahoe, one for earlier, but it would have delayed Transmit 6 even further.
Transmit 5 remains the best file transfer client on pre-Tahoe macOS. We're not taking it away.

@jonathanbuys@hci.social Never! We've been pedal to the metal this entire time, even with everything else we do. We know it's been too long since the last major update, but every time we've stumbled upon an unexpected bump in the road (like Liquid Glass), we've had to take a long detour.

@skye@indieweb.social Not currently. There aren't any workarounds to our knowledge. We're tracking rebindable vim keys as something users want in our backlog, but I can't promise when or if it will be added to Nova.

@tombinroth@mastodon.design We do a lot of things. In many ways, we've become a company that's difficult to describe. But we've never abandoned or even paused app development. We've been working on our apps the entire time, especially Transmit. Part of the reason Transmit 6 is coming so long after 5 is because we kept adding things to 5.

Yes, it does. Transmit 5 continues to work on macOS 15 and prior. We're not taking it away. But Transmit 6 requires macOS 26.
