#Wikipedia rabbit hole: False Dimitri I - Tsar of Russia from 1605.

Claimed to be the son of Ivan the Terrible, who disappeared at age 8. His mother went: "Sure, seems legit".

9 days into his reign: "His body was hacked to pieces, burned, and then the ashes fired from a cannon towards Poland."

But wait... a couple years after, Tsar False Dimitri II enters the scene.
