Recently spoke to @limneticvillains@mastodon.online due to a track of his I was mastering for a bonkwave release, after a chat he sent me over a code for this.
Very happy he did because it's a great blend of electronics and rock that feels quite industrial

There's also a new Convair ( @Undercat@mastodon.sdf.org ) EP out today, I attended the listening party last night and it's great.
I'd like to also highlight her previous release which I picked up a while back.
Lovely atmospheric instrumental rock that feels a bit shoegazey

With all of the ones from this "Seasons" series my goal has been to push myself outside of what I would usually make & release so it's a bit different to my usual dance or ambient stuff and a bit more cinematic.

shared this one when it came out but keep finding myself coming back to it a lot and finding new dimensions within it to love and appreciate
blends together elements from downtempo, idm, jazz, drum & bass and broken beat

event is looming so i've been spending a lot of time digging for any last minute additions of tracks i might want to play and there are a lot of (I presume) younger producers who make really good jungle but are incapable of making a track over 2 minutes long

so following up on the previous part I finally got time to check out CommsBreakdown's second Dadtronica release
It's a great album living in one of my favourite zones of music, the kind of IDM, Ambient Techno, Chillout zone.

Obviously very far from the first time I've heard something by @socool but the first thing I've heard by CommsBreakdown.
Really good sort of downtempo-y / electronica-y track in both of its incarnations

think I might have shared this when it came out, but it deserves another go around, great collection of covers in a kind of industrial synth poppy style.
i've sung the praises of the God Tonight cover multiple times but the whole collection is great.

I think a big thing that helps is doing it with other people as well, as there are three of us putting on this event and playing, even though there is obviously a big overlap with who we know I'm sure it does help increase the turnout a lot more than if it was just one of us, and then having a good like baseline of friends and extended friends helps it feel more busy when other people show up so they think "oh yeah this feels like something."

anyway to begin with here's the latest from an artist I've known for a while, loved their music a lot for a while and who only seems to go from strength to strength with each new release
kind of contemplative but playful downtempo

Finally (for today), I'd like to share this beautiful instrumental jazz album by @nigelharpur@musicians.today it released a few years ago but I was lucky enough to happen to attend a listening party for it a couple weeks back and was instantly enamoured by it.

Probably a good day to dig out some stuff from my notes I wanted to recommend:
Dragon Trax have a new release out but don't overlook their previous from a few months back.
A collaborative EP that balances electronics, live instruments and spoken word.
Featuring @socool@ravenation.club & @ireless@mastodon.socialhttps://dragontraxuk.bandcamp.com/album/soondaze-ep

I said finally... but I just spotted this in my notes and had to share.
Long been a fan of @zext_tH@mastodon.online and his albums of largely electronic music which span from beautifully delicate to harsh and experimental noise. This one gives you a bit of both.

my recent explorations in more jungle / dnb and adjacent stuff has had me coming back a lot to the album where he took inspiration from all that

I have a vst of a mellotron that I've used on a song.
The entire idea pretty much came from reading the manual and it saying something along the lines of: "don't hold down notes for a long time because they'll go out of tune and warble strangely", so I just had it holding long chords in the background haha.

Oh I do think one thing that helped as well - basically the venue we play in is a basement venue below a bar you access from some stairs in the smoking area out the front, above the stairs is an archway, so we got a big vinyl banner printed and hung it on that, feel like that definitely might have made a difference on passing trade?

Yeah ours isn't super active, I post like a square version of the poster on there with the artist and event info on it.
In the run up to the next one we're doing I've posted a short video and made a couple more I'll post nearer the time (you can see the one I've put on there in my pinned post on here). Also run the post of the poster as an ad just on the cheapest amount in the week leading up to the event.
Again though feels impossible to figure out how much of an impact it has?
