🎷 #PostPunk #Shoegaze #IndieRock

This upcoming Friday is the next Bandcamp Friday- got your eye on anything? So far, I'm thinking some new EPs by Marcel Allen, Xanny Stars, Distention, Processor, and Obii Say, the new single by Ma$stermind, and the new tape from Dégradation. Plus, as usual, the new Bacteriophagal Reconstruction release. https://isitbandcampfriday.com #Bandcamp #IndieMusic #BandcampFriday #rap #hiphop #IndieRock #UndergroundRap #punk #dbeat #electronica

On 30 July 2001, The Strokes released their debut album, 'Is This It'.

Rather than looking to the future, they turned to the crunchy rock of The Velvet Underground, The Ramones, and Sonic Youth, spearheading a newly founded wave of young bands refusing to be labelled irrelevant amidst the dominance of hip hop and electronica releases at the start of the new millennium.

"All obsessed with fame, says we're all the same Oh, I don't see it that way"

The Trials of Van Occupanther is the second studio album by American rock band Midlake. It was released on July 25, 2006, on Bella Union. Dave Simpson wrote in a contemporary review for the Guardian: As the charts heave under the weight of so-so soft rock, Midlake suggest the genre isn't all bad. From the remote rock outpost of Denton, Texas, they look lovingly to Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles, but also to the darker genius of Peter Hammill. They have clearly listened closely to the Blue Nile's debut and Radiohead's OK Computer. However, they bring it all together in a vision of their own. The Trails of Van Occupanther places itself in the head of an imaginary 19th-century hermit. This allows vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Tim Smith to ponder everything from unrequited love to the environment. The songwriting is rich, delivering an almost hallucinatory mix of pianos, horns, guitars and painfully wistful reminisces... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kggVH8O9ynU&list=OLAK5uy_lj5w17kNhtwU4jWMtta_2QfeQVgifkzqs #Midlake #IndieRock #Music
