Yes chaos.social now has the mastodon default theme. No we do not plan to keep it this way. Upstream changed a lot again and our old themes don't build, therefore we need time to adapt our themes to the new changes. This is a work that needs multiple hours and sucks. So you will have to wait a little. In other news, we are now on the latest version of the 4.6.x branch. 4.7.x has big database migrations that will take hours too so we decided enough work for today. #mastoadmin

We had some file system problems on our database host starting this morning around 6 CET. This lead to a read only filesystem, which we started to fix at 10 CET. We also used this downtime to do some reboots and some needed maintenance. So welcome back while we catch up what happened in the fediverse during our downtime. #mastoadmin

Looks like the problem is solved. Systemd-resolved was in a strange stage where it still resolved requests via dig as usual but for example a curl or mtr timed out on the DNS stage. Restarting systemd-resolved solved the problem. #mastoadmin

That hashtag is treated no different than all hashtags from our POV (i.e., we do not moderate hashtags at all). When I (@rixx@chaos.social ) am logged in, I see plenty of posts under the hashtag. Zero idea why they don't show up on the public page, but it's not through any admin action on our end. Screenshot of the hashtag in our moderator interface + a random other hashtag attached.)

And if a restart not always fixes this problem it is also possible it was at least a part in our last mysterious problems situation. @Nameless the problem must be at least some years old the affected system runs a rather old version of it 252.39

Wir gehen hier nicht gegen Politik vor, nur dafür, dass sich Leute aussuchen können, wann sie sich damit befassen. Optionen für Aktivismus: Außerhalb der lokalen Timeline ("unlisted" ist ja immer noch öffentlich) oder eben mit CW, also dem ActivityPub-"Subject"-Feld, das eben in Mastodon so benannt ist. Nichts davon macht uns weniger politisch. Nur sorgsamer.

@overflo Was nervt, entscheidet die Person, die ungefragt angequatscht wird. Spätestens nach dem ersten Hinweis darauf, dass Interaktion unerwünscht ist, solltest du diese dann lassen. Wenn du das schwierig zu beurteilen findest, hilft vllt der englische Begriff "Reply guy" an der Stelle besser.

@KowalskiFlausn @roterSkipper Wir haben dir eben schon auf dem anderen Post geantwortet – tatsächlich hatten wir das nicht bedacht bzw davon nicht gehört. Wir waren davon ausgegangen, dass das Detaillevel "[Bild: Vogel]" für alle erreichbar ist, die Bilder posten. Wenn das nicht der Fall ist, lässt sich da halt eine Ausnahmeregelung machen. Unsere User:innen wissen ja, dass man mit uns reden kann, und nicht direkt mit passiv-aggressiver Anpampe ankommen muss :)

@Murenius Das ist ja unter "Best Practices", da haben wir ja sehr viel Geduld für Gespräche und Warnungen. Grad positive Interaktionen führen da auch idR nicht zu Problemen, aber grad so ungefragtes "das geht aber besser!" etc muss einfach nicht sein.
