What if the 48 KB ZX Spectrum had more storage and bandwidth, but kept the low resolution and attribute colour clash? What would a movie look like?

I find it so amusing that the future of programming is now apparently CLI apps with monospace fonts in a terminal
I dug into the PrusaSlicer 3 beta. This now includes a plugin API, sandboxed via Lua.
It's fairly limited right now: you can create objects, emboss text, and insert custom G-code.
The API is documented as comments in
https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/blob/master/src/slic3r-shared/src/Slic3r/App/Lua/ProjectApi.cpp #prusa
I drank some sake yesterday. Not too much. Just a little bottle. The dining room started swaying…
Just a little earthquake, probably a 2 where we were in Hakone: https://www.data.jma.go.jp/multi/quake/quake_detail.html?eventID=20260821210756&lang=en
Canary Wharf is an appropriate location for The Hunger Games: On Stage
Maybe, just maybe, your static website doesn't need 12 MB of JavaScript
I never thought I'd be so happy to see a little drizzle. First rain in a month in London.
The new stable version of rclone (a command-line program to manage files on cloud storage) is out, including a few of my contributions: https://rclone.org/changelog/#v1-74-0-2026-05-01

In the UK Growing up in the online world: a national consultation survey, one of the questions is “Do you know if your child has ever used a VPN?”. I answered yes, of course they have! They use Tailscale to watch BBC iPlayer when we’re in France or Germany. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/growing-up-in-the-online-world-a-national-consultation
Now it’s warmer I’ve started cycling to work. Coincidentally, all my muscles now ache and I’m exhausted.
Oops accidentally in Chinatown for dumplings surrounded by lanterns, firecrackers going off and dancing lions. Sneaked in for tasty dim sum. Happy new year!
Web Performance advice changes over time:
Web Performance Tuning by Patrick Killelea (1998) recommends pre-starting Java in Netscape, 68K emulation for the Macintosh, and whether to get an internal or external modem.
High Performance Web Sites, by Steve Souders (2007) recommends CSS sprites, how to configure mod_gzip, and mentions CGI scripts.
What advice will raise eyebrows in 2030?
One day I will see a progress bar that progresses steadily and then ends
"0Gbps NVMe Enclosure" sounds very impressive. Maybe some digits are missing.
I need to compact my memory. I'm just resting my eyes. On the sofa. In the sun. Mmm.
At the moment all I seem to do is write compilers
I'm setting up a server which is IPv6 only... and it can't connect to GitHub? In 2026?
In Ruby 4.0.0, the "CGI library is removed from the default gems"
End of an era!
Why did I watch a video of gameplay of the “biggest computer game of the year” instead of playing it?
Today I tried to use the "hhttps" protocol. WHY DIDN'T IT WORK?
Avenue Q is back in London! I had fun last night and learned that the internet is really really great
"Agreed, that is technically correct... but confusing"
It must be friday: Protocol "ttps" not supported
Whoops I just found a letter marked “do not ignore this letter”. I may have ignored it until now
This chart represents the temperature in my kitchen. There's a huge spike! Lava eruption maybe? Or the sun hitting at just the right angle through the window to warm the thermometer?
"The site is unusually friendly to markdown-native browsing agents"
Yay, the latest version of Chi, a lightweight HTTP Go router, includes "feat(middleware): add text/markdown, text/csv, text/vtt to default compressible types".
That means that apps that use it (like rclone) will automatically compress Markdown (so common these days) over the network. https://github.com/go-chi/chi/releases/tag/v5.3.2
I kinda want to replace my old Synology NAS, but the hardware and drive prices are wild right now.
