Such lazy and cowardly corp-speak. This sucks. https://www.heroku.com/blog/an-update-on-heroku/

What a jewel Heroku has been. I've seen so many deployment paradigms and PaaS equivalents since.

Some alternatives eventually approximated the simplicity and elegance, but it's wild how convoluted and unwieldy deployment platforms and systems still are for even the most simple stacks.

Sad for the good people who made Heroku work for years and for folks (like me) who still rely on it.

An Update on Heroku

Today, Heroku is transitioning to a sustaining engineering model focused on stability, security, reliability, and support. Heroku remains an actively supported, production-ready platform, with an emphasis on maintaining quality and operational excellence rather than introducing new features. We know changes like this can raise questions, and we want to be clear about what this means […]

I need a time machine to go tell 14 year old me that one day learning how to make websites with Microsoft FrontPage in Mr. Brahimi’s technology class will somehow lead to the ... *slow blink*… French government officially using the website you made as a reference for their open source collaboration suite. https://github.com/suitenumerique/people/blob/569aff05a15ff13f3698adbf94543b1e889949e1/CHANGELOG.md?plain=1#L5

Murdering white American citizens named Good and Pretti would be the end of any fictional neofascist dictatorship but in the abject absurdity we live in it’s just the first month of the year.

Terrifying landscape in which to bring your newborn out into the world.

Europeans didn’t develop an affinity for “fancy” copper roofs, gutters, and downspouts just because they’re pretty and shiny.

Copper is more importantly a fungicide which largely reduces algae growth.

But those PVC and aluminum gutters sure are cheap when you refuse to factor in the larger cleaning burden. It’s not just aesthetic, algae can grow thick and clog anything.

If, like me, you missed the ten year anniversary of my one-time roommate Timothy Faust’s seminal Internet piece it’s a always a good day to remember that the boys are back. https://www.vice.com/en/article/i-played-the-boys-are-back-in-town-on-a-bar-jukebox-until-i-got-kicked-out-832/

The man who both introduced me to and got me addicted to The Monster Mash by playing it from his room for what felt like 12 hours will always have a special place in my heart.

I Played 'The Boys Are Back in Town' on a Bar Jukebox Until I Got Kicked Out

The boys were back in town, but I was out of the bar, because they asked me to leave.

Murdering hundreds of innocent girls in cold blood to avoid going down for sex trafficking more innocent girls for decades, sexually assaulting countless women, and demonstrably raping at least several.

And the only thing that will make the demented wannabe-king shit his pants (on purpose) is the price of dead dinosaur juice.

@beep@follow.ethanmarcotte.com @aworkinglibrary@mstdn.social That was correct, and now corrected. Phew what a post. Being on the tail end of *precisely* the situation Mandy uses as an example, this hit home like an end of the day attempt to to wake up the Apple TV.
