With the IRL cyberpunk dystopia we are hurtling towards I’m going to start introducing myself as a “netrunner” instead of my current title of “programmer”.

Open Source Alumni are gone but not forgotten. Their impact is still with us. Let's remember those who stepped up and got us to where we are today.
Here's my proposal for recognizing prior gem owners on RubyGems.org:

I preordered a signed copy of the next Becky Chambers book. Can’t wait! https://www.otherscribbles.com/as-you-wake-break-the-shell/
Now that Ruby 3.2 is EOL (3.2.11 was the last version) syntax_suggest can drop support for Ripper and now exclusively use Prism. This is a large internal change, but shouldn't affect users. Upgrade to 3.0 to try it out
The RubyGems Fracture Incident Report was picked up by The Register https://www.theregister.com/2026/04/01/ruby_central_report/. Asking for a few corrections, but overall it's fair.
> McQuaid told The Register: "This retrospective is a net positive in that it shows Ruby Central learning lessons and publishing more specific information than was previously public. I still do not think Ruby Central got, or is getting, everything right, but I am glad to see more accountability and reflection than we had before." ❤️

I revamped the /r/ruby's "hiring" recurring post. Companies, please post following the template. Please re-share for visibility.

I'm doing a lot more code reviews these days for **reasons** (AI). Anyone have local GUI tools they use and like? Prefer if it is a thing I can use locally without needing to push to GitHub.
@adarsh@ruby.social I’ve not seen the video but the “illegal” part is surprising. This came up on my feed about a year ago. He had to get permission to put a pipe in but it was fine https://youtu.be/ZGsuOyzyYcI?is=4CMC4IGo9e4Wl8Sz
Reading this headline, I thought perhaps Jeff was scripting a Claude agent in bash to be the new paramount president:
"Jeff Shell Out as Paramount President"

My crates recently passed a quarter million downloads and path_facts is slowly gaining on cache_diff @schneems@crates.io
Hello world. What are some good patterns for memorializing Alumni of OSS repos? Looking to give some love to some OGs
Claude needs a "preflight" in its plan mode, where it tries to predict what tool calls it will need and then exercises them such that it will prompt the user for permissions early if needed.
Wife accidentally told my youngest that the H in ADHD stood for “hyperfocus” and YES. This is my new headcanon.
Turns out mise forwards whatever you give it to ruby-build which...doesn't exit when you call ruby-build --version. Here's the issue.

I chose a signed AND personalized one. Surprisingly affordable.
Who has gone down the claude devcontainer rabbithole? Worth it? Thoughts on when to use it or when to avoid?

People who dual wield: Cursor + Claude Code (or something else) how do you sync "agents" between the two?

I've been wanting something that can play Half Life Alyx and Beat Saber that isn't giving money to Facebook/Meta, the Steam Frame looks promising. (I don't have a dedicated gaming tower)
