Also—I think I rant about this every campaign—politicians can literally just say anything. It's like cops, they're allowed to lie (and mislead, and promise things they can't deliver, and be wrong). Don't look at what they promise, that's worth bupkes, look at what they've already done.

How well someone does or what someone says in a debate has absolutely no bearing on what they will actually do in office or how well they will do it. They are completely unrelated. The real hard work is getting stuff done behind the scenes and getting everyone on board before it even gets to Council. There is relatively little debate-style back-and-forth and if there is, it does not change anyone's minds.
