Gitlab is in a position to making the same mistakes (already added AI and a private company, at least the server is open core), while forgejo is fully open source, imo easy to selfhost and Codeberg eV is a German "Verein" (kind of like the US 501c nonprofit), so it very much lives and dies with the community

However, messing with any sort of "important" content (like the content of a post, or description, etc) must not ever be tagged that way

I will continue to work on Linstrom. But the goal is no longer to create an ActivityPub-enable server that hopefully fixes many of the issues seen in other implementations (even if it will accidentally still happen), it is now solely for me to be able to say that I've completed a big, complicated and full-stack project, all on my own. I will also still be posting updates about Linstrom on the dedicated developer account @linstrom-developer@app.wafrn.net

fedi, question: Passkey registration happens in two stages. You request a challenge, then send back the response. The server needs to track this somehow. The challenge does not contain anything that I could use to tie the challenge and response together. You get a session and options from the call to start the registration on the server side.
Is there any scenario in which you can hand the session over to the client and still be certain that, on response to the challenge, you got the original session? Would it be easier to simply throw the session into the server's database and fetch it again later?
