Long story but one of the many AI/ML based hr startups wanted to claim how their profiled candidates done well in the roles they got hired for and i asked but did the folks you rejected underperform? Forgot a bad one they didn't even have one deflection ready for no one in the team or client or investor had asked of type 1 AND 2 error validation. Ever. That was just tip of iceberg on those startup models. solid grift lads.

One of the most interesting film i saw this year, is streaming now. It is a truly ambitious, fever dream of a film. But more importantly, it reminds you to fall in love with cinema again. Correct me if am wrong, but the opening is about a horrible violent massacre in India where the only survivor is the foreigner character? Putting that aside, it feels weird getting reco-ed a fiction book about doomed future, when as an indian living through this reality, & folks reco in are in us, uk, safe as they close borders, outsource data centers...I hate being a lesson for my "betters".

@RobAtk@mastodon.social No other choice was funnier than it had any right to be. absolute dark comedy done well. and the technical/craft aspects were so alluring. so many interestingly shot scenes.

I finally gave in and read the opening chapter of that climate emergency novel of Kim Stanley Robinson. And i have to wonder the judgement of my american & european peers recommending it to me. Our peril, a lesson for your dinner parties. While their leaders parrot some form of social liberal, fiscal conservative nonsense. I would like more stories where global south gets to save global north, how it feels to not be defacto hero in every disaster story. Or even cast as the distressed.
