I finally retired my 7-year-old iMac and have started using my 4-year-old M1 MacBook Pro as my primary machine.

I have a nice display, so I wanted to use the MacBook in clamshell, but it completely ruins the WiFi reception.

Any solutions? Do I just have to keep the MBP open?

@steve@beige.party huh! I’ve googled and found a lot of others with the same issue so don’t think it’s isolated to me. But now curious. Do you do clamshell flat or vertical in a dock? And yah, has happened with two different displays.

@steve@beige.party whoa. i tested. 10-20Mbps down if it's flat, 60-70Mbps down if it's vertical. HUGE difference, reproducible over and over. Thank you for asking!

Replying to

@steve@beige.party Yes--they were all M1. Sounds like I just need to hold it vertical until I upgrade to M2/M3!
