In the darkness of a tent, a mother’s voice echoed—not as an illusion of grief, but because little Majd plays a video of her every night, just to fall asleep to the sound of the mother he can no longer hold. This is the cruel reality of a stolen childhood: forced to act normal and play by day, yet left entirely alone at night with a sorrow far too heavy for small hearts.

Can a child be heartbroken on his birthday? Yes, he can.

Today is Majd's birthday.

Majd is a child who lost his mother two years ago and has been growing up as an orphan. Last year, we couldn't celebrate his birthday because of the famine and the extremely difficult conditions we were living through.

This year, I hoped things would be different. I wished I could raise at least $50 to bring a smile to his face and make him feel special, even for one day.
