Trying this jasmine tea powder, whipped it up like a matcha and enjoyed with a chocolate almond cookie from a batch I baked yesterday. It was so fragrant! 🌼
It's funny because I associate jasmine with green tea, but since the powder was a light brown it looked like a black or milk tea, haha.

"In 1980, angered by the lack of support for young people suffering from cancer, Fox decided on an ambitious goal: he would run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. On 12 April 1980, after dipping his foot in the Atlantic Ocean in St John’s, Newfoundland, Fox began a journey that, if completed, would span nearly 5,000 miles..."

Summer Game Fest: Can you imagine working on something for 16 years of your life??
Me: yes I know people who make webcomics

Best overheard convo on the bus today: two school-age girls chatting about video games of varying genres and setting up consoles.
Girl: I'm scared of Final Fantasy, it looks so complicated
Friend: No listen these games are FOOL PROOF
THAT'S THE SPIRIT 💪

Always fun to find a random notes folder full of hastily-jotted down creative ideas that were absolutely brilliant!! when you came up with them and are now totally incomprehensible

My little table at TCAF (Basketball Court 073B) today! It'll be a little different tomorrow - a few things sold out (!!)
How fun and special to get to do an event like this again! So many great conversations, saw old friends, met lovely new people, chats with some amazing folks who've been following my work 😭 I am so tired but I FEEL SO ALIVE :blobcat_on_fire_peacefully: Will (try) go to bed early for Day 2 energy!!

The umbrella-handedness poll has ended with 47 respondents! Thank you all for indulging my random interest! A few things I learned:
- Only 4 options in a Mastodon poll
- You can only vote if you have a Mastodon account
- Poll creator also can't see who voted (nice to confirm firsthand)
- People are really interested in odd little questions and happy to help boost
- People can interpret things in a way you didn't expect, or share an experience that you didn't think of - it's super interesting

In my personal case, it seems to feel more comfortable/at ease to hold it on my left side. I always thought it was because I'm now right-handed and this would free up my dominant hand for more complex things.
Clearly, it's not universal. It's neat to see the mix - and that at the same time it's also not guaranteed people will bias their "dominant side" by default when holding open umbrellas. :blobcat_magnifying_glass:
Thank you for joining me on this tiny nerdy investigation for baby science!

And if you're a Canadian cartoonist / comics creator: Cloudscape Comics Society has created a letter for the People's Consultation on AI, doing their best to represent the common concerns of cartoonists and provide input directly to the Minister of Artificial Intelligence.
You can read and sign on if you agree with it: https://bsky.app/profile/jammyness.bsky.social/post/3mgxmd5sq2c2i
Again, deadline is March 23! The more endorsements across Canada, the better. Signal boosts appreciated ❤️

I did manage to convert my what-is-going-on thumbnails into still-very-rough-but-at-least-I-can-tell-what's-going-on full page pencil sketches... I'll come back and refine them a bit more later. 4 more pages left to go after this, haha.
But the (self-imposed) homework is done for today! On to lunch and making lemony roasted potatoes~!

Based on the results: it's likely more common to encounter an open umbrella being held on the right! ☂️
What caused this: I was ambidextrous as a kid, and now right-handed (likely due to right-hand bias in our environments/tools). I still do some things with my left hand, like brushing teeth/hair. I was on a rainy walk with an umbrella in my left hand and passed another person with an umbrella. Several min later I thought, "Which hand were they using?" But then I didn't see any more umbrellas!

@viscountexx@goblin.technology ahh, got it! Really interesting to hear how you approach it - thank you so much for taking the time to share that!
Replying to
@viscountexx@goblin.technology Ohh! Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sorry the original survey options did not encompass it 🙏
If I may ask (please don't feel obligated to answer!): Would you consider yourself left or right- handed, or ambidextrous in general situations, e.g., in terms of whether you tend to favour a particular hand when handling things like umbrellas/positioning them before use?
Replying to
@David@setouchi.social wow. This is quietly breathtaking, the end result and the process of it. Thank you so much for sharing Motoi Yamamoto's work, and so many details about the location too!

Wish I could've specified left-handed in left hand, left-handed in right hand, right-handed in left hand, right-handed in right hand... but it is what it is at this time. Thank you for your participation in developing our understanding of umbrella-handedness lol

@delphina2k@mastodon.art ooh hmmm, that's an interesting way of looking at it! So you're right-handed but went with describing yourself as ambidextrous because of the umbrella switching?
