About a month ago I soft-launched Grid Lands — an idea that lived in my head for years.

Since then I've added more mechanics, better balance, and a tutorial.

Thanks to everyone who played, broke things, and shared feedback. Thank you 🙏

It’s still very early. Please treat it as early access.

If you enjoy experimental multiplayer strategy, come explore the endless grid.

Spent 30 minutes the other day with an AI coding agent (the model was Opus 4.7). Made myself a Telegram bot that receives a query, uses it to find a torrent, downloads it, and notifies back when ready.

Uses python, rtorrent, prowlarr, and flaresolverr. Prepared podman quadlet based setup for it.

This one is going to live on my RPi with a storage box connected.

@ThePSF 💭 A genuine question: Should the PSF continue to sustain PyCon US directly? It’s the flagship Python event, but it also seems to consume a large portion of PSF funds with limited benefit for the global community. Wouldn’t it make more sense for PyCon US to rely more on external sponsorships and partnerships, instead of drawing so much from the PSF itself? Also, how much support do regional PyCons receive by comparison? #Python #PyCon #PSF #Governance

I’m putting my little game on Steam, and I paid the Steam Direct Submission Fee through my legal entity.

Valve’s confirmation is just a web page with no supplier or payment identification details. It references an invoice number, but I can’t seem to access the actual invoice.

❔ Has anyone paid the Steam Direct fee and found a way to get a proper receipt from Valve?

Want to give your teammates a headache? 😄

Try this on `main`:

```
git commit --allow-empty --allow-empty-message -m "" && git push
```

A commit with no changes *and* no message… perfectly valid, technically cursed.

OK, this is officially the weirdest day of my life.

Just had been copying something over SSH. The progress got stuck. I've pressed Ctrl+C and it got unstuck and continued.

WTF?

How marginal are you?

Me: Firefox, Thunderbird, Android, Pear Launcher, Fedora Linux, COSMIC desktop, Fish shell, Mastodon

Somewhere between “mainstream-adjacent” and “fully self-inflicted” 😄

Neat one-liner for updating a PR while keeping your local main fresh.

git fetch origin main:main && git rebase main && git push --force-with-lease

This: • updates your local main • rebases your current branch onto it • safely force-pushes the updated history

Compact, explicit, and avoids drifting main locally.

@fosstodon Yeah, I noticed they’ve only got a handful of active users. Announcements like this might end up giving them more attention than they’d get otherwise. Still, good to have the clarification so folks don’t get confused.

@webology @lorenipsum @ThePSF In my experience one pursues other sources first to improve diversification of funding and allow a flexibility of choice. The logic we need to drop this source to persue other ones doesn't make sense to me, sorry.

@webology @lorenipsum @ThePSF That's great to know. IMO, generating expenses is not the best way to attract sponsors:) Generating opportunities for a wider sponsored brand presence and reach is 🤷‍♂️

I've just found out that my external display has a tiny, unnoticeable power button. It took me several minutes to intentionally find it again just to turn it back on 😅

I knew it should be the button, but I almost panicked thinking it might have just died.
