Getting ready to ship six rolls of film to Photo 60 for processing. They always do a nice job and they're crazy fast.
My kid's uni roomie is taking a film photography course next semester and needed a camera, so gifting them a Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with the kit lens (and *maybe* a 50/1.8), but it needed a field test before getting shipped out. Made my kid do the field test ("P is for Professional") and he got this look on his face like he might add a class. 😆 Which he shouldn't, I think he's carrying 17 credits already.

@futurebird Where we live, in a box nearly identical to that, we find we can grow more lettuce that two people can reasonably eat, or carrots too small for human consumption.

"Wait, forty years? That can't be right. We're still older than Newt, right?"
"Mostly."

@HG I am middle class and climbing (running to stand still?), and always credit luck. It's never just luck, but always and luck.

@mattblaze I live near an old Nike missile site and about once a year they do a tour for the first busload of people to sign up (I always find out a day late).
It's on my bucket list to take some photos with a Soviet-era camera. Crazy to think how many billions of dollars and unknown lives were spent to prevent that very thing from happening.

@tychotithonus@infosec.exchange You have to have anachronisms, though, so the pizza guy has to be Papa John's or something.

@AlexLuyckxPhoto@mstdn.ca I don't love the over- or underexposed shots, but the correctly exposed shots are perfection.

@venya@musicians.today @brad@1040ste.net It has been literal decades but I recall using some open source app that spoke ActiveSync to drag Exchange mail to my local inbox and then just used mutt, and later did the same with Gmail. It was nice to separate the client from the syncing problem, and I think I just set up authenticated SMTP rules for the outbound.
Long-winded way to ask, have you tried mutt? I can't imagine it no longer maintained.

@ericsfraga@fediscience.org @ohmrun@indieweb.social Uni roommate and I did that one Saturday, accidentally rode 60 miles. Not even an energy bar. Found water about halfway through. He was on a road bike, I was on a mountain bike, he flatted about five miles from home so I sprinted the last leg, grabbed the car and a loaf of bread and drove back for the rescue, and we just devoured slices of plain bread one after another on the drive home.

@maxleibman@beige.party Yes, and would someone identifying as female please promote their picture of a Linux joke without a hashtag (but with alt text) so somebody can win at #SilentSunday? Don't do it for me, do it for the Fediverse high score. Maybe drop your ko-fi link for the bonus points (and a free brekkie 🤞).

@robpike@hachyderm.io I do a lot of thrift shopping for old camera gear and I've picked up a couple of old HP calculators along the way. The early keys were double-shot injection molded like a good keyboard, the later ones just painted.

My stock Debian GNOME install Just Works™ but I've been messing around with something significantly simpler and off the radar: a window manager called wind, a file manager called Xfiles, and a home-grown launcher made with fzf. The role of the status bar is being played by btop.

@mementomaori@kind.social A garage-sized 3D printer is going to print 75% of my next car out of crap I'm currently taking to recycling, using solar power while I'm at work. I printed a couch for the elderly lady down the street and now she wants a coffee table to match.
