Drinking coffee after my 6pm Coffee Curfew, but it's OK because it's also got Kahlua and Irish Cream and my regular vanilla sweet cream in it, and it's in my grandma mug instead of the usual 16oz-er...
"The authors propose what they call a Contextual Copyleft AI License (CCAI) — a novel extension of copyleft licensing, which would treat generative AI models as derivative works and require AI developers training models on open-source code to make their architecture and training data freely available."

We apologise again for the faults in the Monty Python References. Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked.
Just checked up on LinkedIn, found a guy that says he spends $6-7000 a month on tokens, and be got a hat, sticker pack, plushie and a thank you note from Anthropic... He paid them to help them train their algorithms, and in return he got $10 worth of SWAG.
So many software engineers out here giving the rest of us a bad name, you can usually sniff them out early on because of their methods of self-aggrandizement & how little they care for the community they claim to serve.
"Electric Shock Hazard? No, User-Servicable parts inside!"
Shout out to whatever Aunt/Uncle/Grandparent or whoever that gave 10 year old me a CD-rom setup for people to make their own Doom *.wads , with CAD and all sorts of stuff, and gave me my first existential crisis involving computers. All I really remember is that opening the CAD software resulted in a black screen managed by inscrutable keyboard shortcuts and I couldn't get it to be anything but that black screen...
I hope Elon's right and the internal contradictions of Capitialism 202X cause an instant reversal into Fully Autonomous Luxury Space Communism -- but maybe that's just a marketing gimmick to sell the idea that giving him more money will make everyone rich.
The battle between my ethics and my need to eat, compounded by 20 years of suffering in the Software Industry, is particularly hard today.
I still think the "Nobody Wants To Work Anymore!" people and the "The AI does my Job for Me!" people should have to knife-fight like the Beat It video.
RE: @mastodonmigration@mastodon.online
Is it possible that Elon failing to launch rockets is no longer newsworthy to the mainstream outlets?
It's interesting how this grocery chain has "Digital-Only Coupons" that you need an app (spyware) to activate -- and they'll just straight up send you notifications about advertisements...
the orphan-crusher is going to crush us all eventually; you just gotta make sure it rolls over your parents before it gets to you or else you won't be an orphan yet and it won't count.
#NaNoGenMo kinda lost its fun when all these LLMs hit, but also all the LLMs are real bad at story writing? Like, just the cheesiest schlock unless you really fiddle and edit well, at which point you might as well just write your own damned book.

Cool thing about powerful AI talent acquisition software is how it can connect to your LinkedIn account, and your Indeed account, and upload and parse your Resume, and then make you fill out all the data already on your LinkedIn, Indeed, and Resume
I lost a billion dollars this year because nobody gave me a billion dollars despite my potential to earn a billion dollars.
somebody should toss me $50 for a Shodan membership; I promise I can be trusted with search filters :3
You "have to" use "AI" right now because unless you work hard to avoid it then it's already been inserted into all the major websites and between you and the information you seek -- The Old Ways of searching are gone, you have to use smaller more specialized databases and constantly battle the encroachment of "AI" into search tools.
If you consume content, but never produce content; are you constipated?
Alright, I just did a round of Distro hopping on my ancient 2015 laptop... Antix & MX Linux were speedy & great Debian-based distros, I prefer Flexbox here (and like it a little better than OpenBox which is incredibly similar), the MX iso was a bit touchy but a much kinder experience than the Antix install. CachyOS was also blazing fast - but Arch doesn't support hardware this old very easily so I skipped KaOS, I liked Niri & Wayland and KDE Plasma is always nice. ElementaryOS is beautiful - but I landed on Linux Mint because my printers Just Worked right out of the box, and after some updates so does my wifi card - which seems to be lacking support on "Modern Systems" and requires a lot of finagling on NomadBSD... Don't think I like Cinnamon that much, or Ubuntu - maybe next time I'll try Mint Debian Edition... But for now, no more funsies - and no more thinking about escaping Debianland
I'm sure the Businessfolk have figured out that LLMs can't become whistleblowers - but it looks like the law isn't protected communicating with LLMs to begin with, and the LLMs may not be deleting things the users think are deleted... they will, however, use every weapon at their disposal to defend their income.
Had a dream that I tried to buy some pants but for some reason the only ones that fit my waist had a 9 foot long inseam, so I was carrying them around by holding up the hanger as high as my arms could reach...
Found a YouTube video about a PureData module, said to download from their defunct WordPress site; Wayback Machine has the site but not the Zip file... So, naturally, I have to recreate the patch by looking at the Lowres vision of it on the 13 year old video... Bitrot is annoying - the Internet is forever, except the bits you want.
So, it seems my prediction from ~2018 holds out... AI can never be Great because Humans have no idea what they want and even less of an idea of how to describe it.
Huh, I guess I got 2 FTDI/Uart dongles ... And I'm going to assume the blue one only has 4 pins because it's missing a 3.3v line and came with an Arduino kit.
Well, that's a new one for me... (not my circus, not my monkeys)
The AI moves faster and breaks more things than any human ever could, and all it takes is a bunch of strip-mined rare earth minerals, fossil fuels augmented by solar/wind power, and potable drinking water.

Employers didn't believe in transferrable skills before the AI Apocalypse, and they still don't - even though they got the "AI" because it allowed people with no skills at all to "write code"
