@wulfric@beige.party Lots of people to block or mute, that's for sure. And on some of this I quite concur, the tone policing or bizarre over reactions to nothing are a little too prevalent, and I suspect those involved just don't see that being those kinds of warriors isn't helpful, it's a huge turn-off. I do enjoy the positive people.

RE: https://humanwords.party/@castanetkamloops/117014255395734666 Even if people were being forced to pay for every dime of a rescue operation when they were ordered to leave, I have a tough time accepting that the risk to other's lives is acceptable. I completely understand that it's difficult to leave, but things don't work very well when people think they know better and are above everyone else. It's one of those people who likely damaged their water system because they felt they were entitled to break in and turn the system back on. #BostonBar

RE: https://humanwords.party/@castanetkamloops/117038084284852928 Funny how these articles continue to miss all the positions that were eliminated, leaving teachers and students with poorer services. Also, if the shortfall was really $2, they could've just asked. I could scrounge around my couch cushions for that. 🤣

Hi, who do I call to clean up the air? It's unsafe to be in for extended periods of time. Oh, we can't? Anyone know if anyone's putting together some kind of class action lawsuit to hold the governments of Canada, BC, the U.S. and oil companies responsible? Would a $500 trillion suit be enough?

@auscandoc@universeodon.com Those who uncritically pass along disinformation as news kind of needs to be shut down. As the meme goes, if one person says it's raining out and another says it's sunny, it's not the job of a journalist to publish each statement, it's their job to look out the window and tell us what the truth is.

@crispius@mstdn.fname.ca The regen works very well and is very strong, though I have yet to see just how much regen it takes to get X amount of charge back, etc. I will have to do some hilly riding to get a better impression of it. It can be controlled in a variety of ways - there's digital brake levers that just have an on/off point to both cut off the motor if it's pushing and to begin regen at a programmed level. There's analog brake levers, which I have installed as my L brake lever (on the trike both brakes are on the front, so we always or are supposed to always use both brakes at the same time) - this lever increases the regen the harder I brake with it (as well as cutting off any motor assist at it's beginning point as well). I also have a bidirectional throttle as part of my right grip, which I swing downward for forward throttle or swing upward to engage regen in a reverse-throttle manner. Most of the braking can be done just with regen, providing the battery (or batteries) aren't 100% full. On the car front, I have a plugin hybrid EV and generally it gets charged at home. The problem with doing so when living in Aberdeen is that generally all trips start by going down hill, so unless I could catch unplugging the car at the right time, the batteries were usually too full to allow any useful amount of regen. But yes, when you can use them, it's awesome to be able to extend the range (or in my vehicle's case, keep the charger off longer). I bought a fairly advanced e-bike charger, programmable, and I think I'll be doing an 80 or 85% charge as the norm to keep the # of charge cycles down, allow for regen room, etc.

@evelyn@masto.evelynyap.com Sounds productive! I went for a 37km ride this morning, and then afterward realized there was a 40km ride event in my Garmin stuff this weekend. I don't really care about the challenges all that much, but it can be fun just to complete them for the made-up points, challenge myself, etc. Maybe I'll have the legs to do 40km tomorrow. Hope your tube holds up for a good long while now!

@evelyn@masto.evelynyap.com I wasn't too familiar with Chaoyang aside from knowing they made tubes - they have a puncture resistant tube, btw, which I saw in my browsing presently. We see a ton of Schwalbe tires here on everything, and they seem to be known for good puncture resistance. (Some of their tires absolutely have heavy duty puncture resistance/protection) Based on what you're saying it's may be most cost effective to get a good tube at this point and if there's continued issues, maybe start looking for a more resistant tire?

It's weird seeing so many accounts that appear to be a human but do nothing but post news stories. They're not commenting on them or striking up some sort of convo, they're just being some bizarre mashup RSS feed posted under a seemingly human name/profile.

The other day I posted a picture of just the frame for this trike as I was starting to build it. This is the completed beast which I've been riding for a few days now. Super comfortable, 2 battery mounts (only one battery on this morning, but the idea is to be able to go a long ways or have the ability to do massive climbs without completely draining the charge), head and tail lights, 2 bottle holders, and a wireless charging phone mount (it was an option, I had to get it). The motor kit is from Grin Technologies in Vancouver, and it's been injected with cooling fluid (which they call Statorade, lol!) to keep the temp. stable even on long climbs. (Hub motor overheating can be a real issue) It will be interesting to see how long the brake pads last with the regenerative braking taking on the bulk of the load. So far, so fun! #recumbenttrike #recumbent #cycling #trike
