@tek@freeradical.zone Whenever my wife questions one of my #hamradio activities, I tell her, "Silvia, I'm licensed by the federal government to operate this equipment." 🙂
I actually worked a high school kid on 40-meter CW just now. #hamradio

If you're going to HOPE, you can sign up for one of my one-day Tech classes and get your #hamradio license in a single day!

@DJ5CW@social.darc.de First, thanks for keeping lcwo.net up and running all these years. After reading this, it occurs to me that it would be interesting to see how the number of users has increased over the years, if that information is available. I think it would be a decent measure of the growth of CW operation in general #HamRadio #CW

@karotte@chaos.social @azonenberg@ioc.exchange This is fascinating. I've never heard this before, and I used to cover Hewlett Packard for the magazine Test&Measurement World back in the 1990s.

@dma@social.treehouse.systems Next time, think about teaching a one-day Tech class in addition to giving the test. Let me know if you have any questions. #hamradiohttps://www.kb6nu.com/teaching-a-one-day-tech-class/

@socallinuxexpo@social.linux.pizza I'm still looking for a VE team for my class at #scale23X next Saturday (March 7, 2026). Anyone know of a VE team that would be able to accommodate?

@W6KME@mastodon.radio @bud_t@m.ai6yr.org @bgarfoot@kind.social I'm a CW guy, so haven't used the mic, but I have a Koss SB/45 Communications headset that I payed like $30 for. They work pretty well for me. I also have an inexpensive Yamaha headset that's similar. It works about the same, and is in the same price range, I believe.

@NH6SP@mastodon.radio Hmmmm. This would have been a good event to hold a one-day Tech class. Can you put me in contact with someone I could talk to about that?

@supersat@defcon.social @dma@social.treehouse.systems Well, if you think so, but despite it being a "Technician Class" license, more than half of the exam is about operating procedures and rules and regulations. These are things that EEs and physicists don't learn in the course of their education and careers.

@N3VEM@mastodon.radio I have a Siglent SDS1152CML, 150 MHz scope that I bought a while back at Dayton. It's been fine for my needs.
