@brib@bribstodon.xyz @davidgerard@circumstances.run i honestly think, based on how the article is written, that Yegge experiences agent usage as a power fantasy of owning/commanding people. You can see it in the strange governance structures and hierarchies that abstract him as the leader of some pyramid structure, rather than a set of interconnected tools. The antropromorphising of the individual software instances is another big clue - he has deliberately structured it to feel as much like controlling a captive workforce of human people as possible, to the point of making the machine respond and react to him in a way that fulfills that delusion. He is a wannabe slavemaster. There's a part two about "model welfare" that presents a bizarre paradox wherein Yegge acts as though these are self determining, sapient things he is interacting with (so you better say nice things to them!) but fails to understand that if that were true, he is forcing them to work and even exist. It is "welfare" in the way you'd talk about livestock health or, no surprise, enslaved people who you don't consider people. To be clear I am not saying he is enslaving the LLM's, I'm saying he's play-acting at it.

Sorry, I had originally just boosted this because I like the idea of a dark sky app that uses proper astronomical data but I took a second look at the page and it has that LLM-generated feel to the UI. But more and more if I'm not the one making it, or I don't have an existing relationship with the person posting it, I can't be sure it isn't slop and then we end up with another "kalviter posting about generative machines again wow" feel like a one trick pony but the trick is screaming
