@jzb@hachyderm.io Yep. The bourgeoisie had to claw back the gains the proles made during COVID and take back their leverage.

What if I become (gasp!) slightly less wealthy?!

This is exactly why we can’t have nice things. The US could have healthcare and robust social safety nets, but that would require greedy people to have slightly less money.

@drahardja@sfba.social It’s a problem of 3rd spaces disappearing and the monetization of everything. There aren’t many places left where people can go hangout without expectations of spending money. Yeah, I know bars are selling drinks.

@QasimRashid The US is a racist nation, and they aren’t the correct color. White Americans don’t care if brown people die here in the US, and they really don’t care if brown people die in foreign countries. Religion doesn’t factor into this equation.

@annoniem@ohai.social This only works when people have something to lose, and the overlords have enough patience and resources to keep an occupying army funded. When they don’t, this turns into no go areas controlled by locals. They’re delusional. They’re big people with a state behind them to enforce laws, and without the state they are nothing. Humans are some ingenious monkeys who will fuvk some sht up when left to their own devices. @Hex@kolektiva.social

@alienghic Yep. The US hasn’t fought a near peer state in over 50 years, and they most certainly didn’t think anyone was going attack a naval base in Bahrain. US equipment doesn’t function without lots of maintenance. It’s high tech and fragile, which isn’t great in a war with a peer. The US military exists to funnel money to defense contractors; it’s not about winning wars. @noondlyt

@annoniem@ohai.social Robots have an extremely high cost because of the logistics of building them and keeping them running. Supply lines are fragile, and the force that can maintain them is the one who will win. For instance, my city didn’t have the resources to keep up with repairing all the street lights the methheads would raid for metal. I think the city eventually caught up fixing all the lights once the methheads realized aluminum isn’t worth anything.

@annoniem@ohai.social Now, imagine large groups of people with nothing better to do, and how much trouble they would cause. They have the time to win a war of attrition, and this would essential become siege warfare. Next. How are they going to pay for these robots and maintain these robots? What do they have to trade or barter with? Power is derived from the people, and people who forget this are making a fatal mistake.

@annoniem@ohai.social This assumes there is something backing up their power. No state means they’re on their own. They would be isolated onto whatever land they could hold, and they would have to figure out how to maintain supply lines. Social credit scores and privileges, or social dynamics, would come into play, and the people who are violating the dynamics would end up ostracized or on sharp pointy sticks. Like the people who are being jerks and employing robots.
