joba
@joba@clubcyberia.co
pleroma 2.10.2In Nigeria, Joba means "to reign", "become king", or "our god reigns"
In Japanese, joba (ジョバッ) is an onomatopoeic expression for wetting oneself.
Joba is also the name of a fruit in some Latin American countries.
In Russian there's "жопа" which is pronounced similarly to joba and it means ass

@deprecated_ii@poa.st @Spooke@detroitriotcity.com @Dudebro@nicecrew.digital using a lot of Rider's autocomplete features for a few years actually made my brain rot. I had to develop on my laptop for a few months and couldn't use the expensive IDE features (due to old hot laptop syndrome) and it took a while to adjust. I can see how people get completely dependent upon the IDE

@Dudebro@nicecrew.digital @deprecated_ii@poa.st programming tests have been pretty standard in the game industry for decades. often you would have to do a timed test before a phone screen and another 1+ hour programming test with a live chat thing after a phone screen all before having an in-person.
with AI slop readily available, the questions would have to be much less generic though. in-person testing isn't terribly viable because you have to tend to go all over the country for most of these jobs (that no longer really exist, but used to).

We need to genetically modify humans to have a cloaca. Imagine how much more efficiently bathrooms can be designed if all humans only had one exit hole.
Added bonus: less holes = more waterproof.

My grandfather used to have a 2 inch toilet seat height extender because his balls would dip in the toilet water while pooping. In his later years that increased to an extra 6 inches above the seat.
I hope this is a hereditary trait

Had to rid a goldenrod bed of a sneezeweed infestation. When young they're a little tricky to tell apart. The narrower and straighter leaves are sneezeweed. Goldenrod is fatter in the middle but when glancing into a bunch its hard to tell apart. Sneezeweed is allowed to grow other places, it is pretty and attracts butterflies.

observations from running my own weather station for a week:
- a three foot difference in sensor placement results in +/- 5 degrees (F) in readings and +/- 10% humidity
-piezo wind readings are erratic but seem fairly accurate
-piezo rain needs calibrated. i'm off ~half an inch from nearby stations from last night
i need to buy more tools to validate my tools which are measuring weather

@creamqueen@clubcyberia.co spider friends are the best friends..although some bees make a close contender.
i am very partial to my carpenter bees who have been destroying my shed. they pretty much stick to just one support column, but they've been in the same one for over 5 years now and the second winter is over they come right back out.

FYI, peanuts are one of the more fertilizer intensive crops:
>fertility research suggests requirements for peanuts, per 1,000 pounds of yield are: nitrogen, 70 pounds per acre; phosphorus, 8 (18 pounds of P205 per acre); potassium, 24 (29 pounds of K20 per acre); calcium, 21; magnesium 9; and sulfur 5 to 6.
Likely to be big peanut shortages in 6 months, combining fertilizer issues with el nino

I didn't get to harvest this oregano plant last summer before it seeded. I now have an entire 4' x 4' raised bed of oregano. It spread to the next bed over which now has 2 new large oregano plants. There are 2 other plants that have popped up outside the beds this year as well.
I guess I'm an oregano farmer now.

@creamqueen@clubcyberia.co @rosey@nekomimi.pics in the US, the post office literally makes like $15 billion/year delivering spam mail no one wants. there are probably deals with free email providers to let certain amounts/types of spam through, kind of like how ad-blocking browsers and plugins by default don't block certain ads (because of revenue)

@creamqueen@clubcyberia.co what kind are they? I can't tell. I had a small cellar spider return to my kitchen sink soap dispenser area. not sure where my shower spider went to...probably got hungry and went to eat some other spiders.

@Spooke@detroitriotcity.com @Dudebro@nicecrew.digital @deprecated_ii@poa.st you'd be surprised how many people struggle with basic programming syntax when it comes to writing psuedo code on a whiteboard during an in-person interview.
I know interviews can be flustering and writing in a whiteboard is something most normal people never do, but some people are helpless without an IDE's autocomplete

@Spooke@detroitriotcity.com @Dudebro@nicecrew.digital @deprecated_ii@poa.st I think a good way to torture the zoomer job applicants is to give them a programming test, but don't let them use a computer. Make them write the code on a piece of paper with a pencil.
