“Let’s make Public AI in Europe.” Love it from @brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org What a breath of fresh air at Cloudfest.
Check, check, check. Is this #ds106radio thing #4life Indeed it is, locking in for a set in honor of the great Duca who left us yesterday. May he retrieve that big red bone eternally in doggie heaven https://listen.ds106rad.io
Sometimes it’s just right in front of you. #ds106
New blog post: "Goodbye Duke" https://bavatuesdays.com/goodbye-duke/
In quite a strange programming decision at Gen Xfest, @brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org of the @internetarchive@mastodon.archive.org is in the graveyard slot. Last session of last day, he should’ve been peak day 2 so as many folks as possible could hear the good word. I’m staying and seating will that much easier, but why blackhole your biggest draw?

Made it from Europepark to Freiburg, where it was snowing. Hope to make it to Zurich tonight via Basel. Then Milano in the morning for a much needed cup of Italian coffee. #trainlife
This general sense of Europe getting out of the cloud has been greatly complicated recently with astronomical energy costs in the EU. This shift where physical locations (data centers) and hardware (servers) seems far more relevant than discussions just 5 years ago. Holes in the cloud? A serious discussion of re-investment after Cloud-first and cloud-only.
Back in Italy since yesterday, finishing up trip with a check-in with Miles of smiles and the obligatory KUNST and KULTURE!
“Technology should be beautiful. Let’s build beautiful technology.”

That moment when you see the entire DNS for a school is down before most of them realize ... but not your own sysadmin. They know. THEY ALWAYS KNOW. #alwayswatching

When you feel the pull of the blog you must obey, and the train scenery barreling through Switzerland was very conducive to getting a bit bava righteous.
You want a blog post, I'll get you a blog post by 3 this afternoon ...fucking amateurs! New blog post: "Five Hours to Live: Security in the Age of AI and the New Arms Race" "https://bavatuesdays.com/5-hours-to-live-security-in-the-age-of-ai-and-the-new-arms-race/ #genxfest
@brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org is just killing it at Cloudfest, thank you for reminding us what it’s all about. Rock, not rot!
Radia Perlman’s NY accent is amazing, not to mention she starts her conversation talking about how working at BBN was a reprieve from the insecurities of grad school. Designer of the network bridge protocol. Amazing
