SDL rejects LLM contributions on basis that the source can't be determined, hence incompatible with zlib license.

https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL/issues/15350#issuecomment-4224907948

I feel now slightly better with investing time in SDL backend for McCLIM :)

recent proliferation of opinions "I'm against AI, but" is sus. just saying.

ps everything before "but" is, per usual, bs.

I've finished reading "House of Leaves". It was fine I guess; I was mostly hooked in the mystery of the house, so it seems that I'm on the shallow end of people liking the book. The narration structure was interesting, but I mostly liked layout and typography experiments. Cleverly planted clues went over my head and I've learned about them after reading the book from internet threads :) I've also revisited some pointers from kind folks on fedi, most notably the soundtrack made by the author's sister and an essay suggesting an interpretation from the perspective of children. It seems very plausible to me! cc @sgharms@techhub.social @VictimOfSimony@infosec.exchange

Claude commit in Emacs; although it looks fishy - the timeline is mixed up and it is against GNU policy. My guess is that one of contributors manage their pull requests with an LLM and the latter inserted itself into the old commit message before pushing. Still a _very_ bad look for a commit pushed to the master branch. https://goto.boserup.eu/@ah/statuses/01KYC67Y3P4P0C09PZB69QX7V8

Apropos nothing, it is OK to have fun at work; normalizing burnout as an acceptable tradeoff for increasing the performance is evil.

I've watched the #Clojure documentary[1] and it was genuinely fun watch, with plenty of interviews and mentions of Common #Lisp .

Stylistics were a bit nerdy, especially adding the camera effect to "past events", as if 2025 didn't have decent recordings; my wife liked it, I didn't so much.

In any case, if you have an hour, it isn't the worst thing you could do during that time.

@mdhughes@appdot.net C89 (and earlier) are fine, but they lack many features (i.e uintptr_t or vla arrays) that were added via compiler extensions over and over again using autoconf. That's why I think c99 is superior to c89, while later versions degrade.

@pascal_costanza@functional.cafe no :) ymax is 2s, bar labels are % to 2s; ECL-pre-fastgf is the branch I'm currently working on. Generally reader access is now on par with CCL, and generic function dispatch gap to other implementations is significantly narrowed. Tests are taken from cl-bench (except from slot-access/reader which is curbed from my recent blogpost).

@screwlisp@gamerplus.org @chiply@fosstodon.org I've recently overhauled the completion framework and added some documentation here: https://mcclim.common-lisp.dev/static/manual/mcclim.html#Using-completions partial completers are part of CLIM and I've also implemented fuzzy and apropos variants. it works in the interactor, accept and when you use complete-input. currently not integrated with accepting values text fields. #mcclim

@cancel Another angle to it is that LLMs are trained on copyrighted sources; and it is _very_ dubious whether the "fair use" wishful thinking will hold for long in various jurisdictions, because results of LLM directly compete, commercially, with authors of the source material. Some people say, that Microsoft _promised_ that it will help users to defend in courts had such cases emerged, and 1) we all know how ethical and trustworthy the company is and that it will keep its promises disregarding of the cost, 2) that doesn't render anything legal even when big entity backs you up.

@aartaka @dougmerritt You can already do incremental drawing in McCLIM, i.e call (DRAW-RECTANGLE stream x1 y1 x2 y2) on the window stream that is already created. Having a loop that reads from a file and evaluates such forms would be rather trivial.
