Yesterday morning we also visited Kunstverein and Kunsthalle in Düsseldorf. We highly recommend also those two venues! At Kunstverein, we saw Maximiliane Baumgartner—her powerful work deeply impressed us, especially with themes around memory culture. Yesterday we visited Kunstmuseum Karlsruhe formerly known as Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe. They not only have a great collection but also really thought about their youngest visitors. Great kids area with a lot to discover.

Yesterday our director gave the opening speech at "Raum für Kunst" in Aachen/ Germany. Tanja Mosblech and Andrea Rademacher-Mennicken are a perfect example for two artist joining forces, leaving their egos behind while cooperating in a very honest and productive way. An exhibition worth visiting!

Good initiative by the Irish government. A kind of basic income for artists and creatives. €1,300 per month eases existential fears and worries, sending a strong signal to those whose importance for a functioning democratic society is often emphasized but rarely rewarded.

Last thursday IKOB was visiting the fantastic (mainly) artist run space called STORAGE MUSEUM in Düsseldorf. They have joined forces with IMAI and hosted with ICH SAGE DIE ZEIGE MIT DEN ZEICHEN IM ZEIGEN DER SAGE one of the most radical shows I have seen in a long time. Almost all works are out of deaf artist perspectives. A must see this season.

Yesterday 130 curious art lovers attended the opening of Wolfgang Nestler's "Werdeformen" at IKOB museum in Eupen. It was a great experience seeing his work which sometimes date back to the 70s looking contemporary and still giving proof to the facto, that art doens't need an academic title to be understood.

Yesterday members and friends of IKOB Museum visited the Eupen City Museum and saw a great exhibition about women who faught the nazis. As usual those histories are rarely told and therefore this exhibition is not only important to rewrite history but also for the future. There is place to resist. There is hope. And the good will always win! This is what the exhibition told us ... Thanks to Catherine Weishaupt for their insights and for doing this exhibition .

Kunstforum International has just released its latest themed issue. Titled ‘Draw! From Line to Art,’ it aligns almost perfectly with the theme of our current exhibition. Ronny Delrue, the Belgian painter and sculptor, is a compulsive draftsman, and we’re using his drawings to highlight the political and social dimensions of drawing.

Today we went on a trip to Brussels and saw three fantastic shows at SuperDakota, Etablissement d'en face und Harlan Levey Projects.
At Harlan Leveys my smartphone had a little crisis, so I couldn't take pictures of Marcin Dudek's fantastic show Nest. Please go there !!!

Yesterday, IKOB visited the Düsseldorf Art Academy’s much-discussed “Rundgang,” the annual student exhibition. Our sense of slight irritation and underwhelm was perfectly captured by Jennifer Braun, also known as “The Gen Z Art Critic.” We highly recommend reading her brilliant piece of art criticism.

Leonie Schöler mentions in her bestselling book "Beklaute Frauen" our humble Museum in the same sentence with Tate Modern, because we have publicly declared our intention to develop our collection toward a 50/50 balance of male and female artists - same like Tate Modern. So far, we are at a 40% to 60% ratio, still in favor of male artists. There is still much work to be done. https://www.ndr.de/kultur/buch/sachbuecher/Beklaute-Frauen-Wie-Frauen-um-ihr-geistiges-Eigentum-gebracht-wurden,schoeler106.html

We just published a new text in our museums blog. The title is "Workflowversprechen und Beharrungsagonie – Der lange Weg zur digitalen Selbstbestimmung im Museum". Unfortunatelly it's in german, but a translating machine might do the magic?! It is a text about digital souvereignty, digital self-defence and the duty of cultural institutions to be more aware about the surveillance industry than others.

We visited RADAR : Swinda Oelke at Westfälischer Kunstverein in Münster and loved it. Not only because she is one of the most dedicated media artists we know from a young generation, also she will be our next Borderland Residency Stipendium starting 1st of September. We are very mich looking forward to have her here in Eupen. #IKOBMuseum #swindaoelke #Borderlandresidency #ikobontour #contemporaryart #munster #westfalischerkunstverein

Today the belgian historian Anne Morelli presents her theory about the principles of the war propaganda and how to resist them. The IKOB museum is packed with people.

Yesterday, we hosted Walter Schulz, who presented his book about Hari Hünerbein, his grand-grandmothers older brother, who left Eupen, with parts of her savings, lived in Cologne and only came back once to give the money plus interests back to his sister. Her family survived WW1 with that money. The book put the flashlight on those, who usually are just forgotten. Thanks to Brenda Guesnet for organising this event!!! #walterschulz #harihünerbein #ikob #martinschulz #workingclass #history

In parallel we still host "between languages, the light" a show with a wild bunch of walloon artists out of our collection. Jacques Lizene's D'art nul, 2009 is exhibited for the first time and shows his improsiation in the flag of the german-speaking community of belgium.

Today we visited "Die Queere Moderne" at K20 in Düsseldorf. The exhibition is great - no doubt about that. We highly recommend going there and to bring some time. The curators offer many books and films, the walltexts are quite informative too

Yesterday, together with Wolfgang Nestler, we opened his storage in display at Haus Amstenrath in Eynatten (Belgium). The exhibition space is open to visitors by appointment. Under the title SCHLÄNGELNDES ECHO, Martin von Almen and Conni Ottinger provided musical accompaniment to the works, and later Paul Damiano and Katharina Richter danced in dialogue with Nestler’s pole sculptures. Thanks to all artists, musicans and dancers involved. #Wolfgangnestler #ikob #performance #music #Eastbelgium
