Short maintenance today to perform some important updates. We'll be back soon. In the meantime, you can visit https://www.hoverstatus.com

We love the small web at Hover and our passion is helping you find a domain to bring your project, blog, book, or whatever to life online.

We also love @kagihq@mastodon.social's "Small Web" project. If you remember StumbleUpon or Blogrolling, you'll dig this too. https://kagi.com/smallweb/

Heads up that very soon, most generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are moving to a single contact (owner) instead of the current four contacts (owner, admin, tech, billing). There's nothing you need to do if your domains are with Hover - we've got it all covered.

We rolled out an updated status site for Hover this week. You can get notified about any incidents via RSS or email if you wish. https://www.hoverstatus.com

The ICANN fee that is charged on every generic top-level domain (gTLD) registration, transfer or renewal is going up on July 1, 2025 from $0.18 to $0.20. We pass that fee directly through in our pricing, so accordingly, we'll be adjusting prices on all gTLDs by exactly $0.02 effective July 1, 2025.

Heads up that we're doing some planned maintenance starting at 6:00pm EDT (2200UTC) tonight, August 20, 2025. Hover will be inaccessible for part of the one-hour window, but domains and email will be unaffected. More info on our Status page: https://www.hoverstatus.com/incidents/11

@db@social.lol Sorted...you shouldn't get any notices anymore.

There's been lots of talk about .finance and .business lately, but we're also thinking about .golf this weekend. Whatever the topic, we probably have a domain extension for your blog, site or big idea. See the big list: https://www.hover.com/domain-pricing

Some good advice on choosing a good domain name for your project or business. Or maybe more correctly, how to avoid a potentially costly mistake! Does a "funky" domain name make you less likely to do business with a company or service?

If you are not a username and password kind of person, you can sign into your Hover account using a "magic token" instead. It gets sent to your account email, and we also still enforce 2FA if you have that configured. From the sign in page, just click "Sign in With Magic Token".
