@QasimRashid@mastodon.social Not surprised to see Fetterman on here at all. He's morally bankrupt and politically homeless

@paul@tapbots.social low end models are incredibly useful for the things that most people use AI for which is basic word processing. While remaining much more efficient and easier to harden.
Yes, they’re not great for coding, but Apple is simply too far behind to catch up in my eyes without blowing up their balance sheets.
It would be nice, but it makes little sense in the current market. There isn’t a single AI company that’s profitable.

I don’t know if it’s the case but HOAs always felt (to me) like something white Americans invented as a method to exclude non-whites and others from their communities legally.

Incredible writing on Sonny Liston by Ben Fowlkes. Even if you’re not a fight fan you should check this out!

@paul@tapbots.social I agree with the local model approach, but I don’t understand why Apple would want to develop something much more computationally expensive that could only be used by the top percentile of their user base for no additional cost. The only way I could see them doing what you’re describing is if they rolled it into iCloud plus or something.

Apple has been incredibly smart by playing it slow and taking a local-first approach with their AI rollouts.
There’s simply no reason for them to release a cloud hosted model for Apple Intelligence at this point which saves a ton on data centers.
I only hope that they continue to move this way under the new CEO

@gardiner_bryant@mastodon.online I went by myself as a 26 year old and had a splendid time. Can’t say I’ll rewatch it, but it was a visual spectacle.

@gardiner_bryant@mastodon.online I think it’s likely that these consoles are steam frames and they don’t understand how valve could get the steam machine classified as anything other than a PC

@nixCraft@mastodon.social I don't get it, if the guy behind it is so rich already why do people keep giving him money?
