Yesterday Digital Science's #Altmetric has added #Bluesky as a new attention source for published research outputs. However, #Mastodon is not in the list of sources, and #Twitter / #X is still there...

Replying to
@mizoraman @jeroenbosman @brembs @HeidiSeibold @carlmalamud @openscience @vijaybarve@fosstodon.org @vijaybarve @omshivaprakash @shrini @sortee 1/ It depends on which elements your institute wants to include in this policy (e.g., focus on data, software, or including open access to publications as well). Some research institutes/universities prefer developing separate policies for Data, Software, Open Access…, rather than having all these different elements in a single policy. 🧵

Replying to
@mizoraman@mastodon.social In terms of a comprehensive Open Science policy covering multiple elements, I like the approach of the NASA SPD-41a policy that covers OA publications, data and software https://shorturl.at/m6KSb This policy could also serve as a model in terms of its clear language about which Open Science practices are mandatory and which are merely recommended (e.g., see Section II.H on p.4). It is complemented with a detailed Guidance (https://shorturl.at/R4cSb) and FAQ (https://shorturl.at/Pr1Lc)

The full #UK #OpenAccess policy for #REF 2029, along with a summary of the consultation that informed it, has been published today, with no mandate for longform outputs such as books

An interview with #Altmetric discussing their decision to include #Bluesky as an attention source and whether they plan to cease indexing #X https://shorturl.at/lmwi8

“we’ve noticed that...the number of X mentions are slightly going down…we have recently run a survey…75% of our users that responded to this survey are either not using X or see their usage decreasing…However, we still see a number of discussions about research happening on X…So..there would be no reason for us to stop indexing X”
