@OneInterestingFact @SalemsLot @Anne_Delong @tsrams @mrundkvist about the famous glider incident, you two may want to watch the "Mayday" episode where they interviewed the pilots and how they decided to land there (iirc the 1st officer had taken flight lessons in that airfield and he knew where it was). Dead stick landing an airliner is no joke, and any runway would likely be a better choice than any other place.
