@CanuckistanBob@cosocial.ca it's an interesting space.
Bio-medical science, protein understanding and vaccine development seems rather llm and AI integrated these days.
It's cool to see but will be intersting to see how the peeps having a meltdown about running 'AI slop' on a rpi will react to the idea of having it injected into thier biology.

@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz Ubuntu's a pretty solid intro for workstation linux and has been for decades....and it sucks as a desktop/latop for many as the linux kernel just doesn't run stuff many peeps, and employers, depend upon.
If someone can't get Ubuntu work for them, linux is perhaps not the place for them.
It's also fine for people to try a linux OS and declare 'linux sucks' after doing so if it's not for you.

@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz Most appreciate the kernel is solid as they know it runs half the planet and internet.
It's the workstation bit where people take the time to install a novel operating system to replace windows or macos and get a shock when things don't 'just work'.
I find Ubuntu LTS to be excellent to be honest and what I'd recommend to n00bs. I'd advise them to avoid novel stuff in constant flux from Arch btw or Fedora as normal humans want an OS that will run like a tank for a decade.
