Dear #OSM #openstreetmap community, how do you usually contribute? The web UI is a bit cumbersome, even on desktop, so I've recently been contributing via #CoMaps on Android. What other apps can you recommend for contributing/updating data?

@theorangetheme @dazo The question is what to use other than Firefox forks. Waterfox and Librewolf work fine, on Android I use Fennec and Waterfox. Chromium based browsers aren't much better and I don't trust Brave either.

I guess the doomsday scenario is that AI will just pump out rewrites and huge FOSS projects will have to deal with a lot of legal battles. And the solo maintainer in Nebraska probably doesn't have the time and funds to deal with any of this BS. Really discouraging :(
Using #Windows11 (or any #Microsoft aka #Microslop product for that matter) these days is like smoking: A bad habit!

I've never said that it's possible (legally) to re-license. Read my post again.
My comment was more about - while AI is involved in this scenario - it's still the people that think pulling a re-licensing move (even though legally not feasible) that are the issue here. Just trying to attempt this is like flipping off the original authors and contributors. Just a huge dick move 😅

IMO it only gets messy if the individual commits/commit messages are messy. Writing meaningful commit messages takes some discipline. So no, I don't squash since I see it as part of the documentation.

I get that the AI rewrite is a load of BS, but the relicensing could happen without any AI, so the real issue in this scenario is the disrespect towards all the original authors and people that have been involved. The AI slop just 10x the whole situation.
The question is: Why do people STILL think it's fine to relicense stuff, even if they're not even legally allowed to? This hasn't happened for the first time, jeez 😅

@thesaigoneer I'd suggest you learn the basic motions via vimtutor (built-in tutorial basically) and then use whatever vim plugin for your editor/IDE for a while to use the motions/get used to the modal editing. It's like you discover fire for the first time one you get addicted to the motions :)

To me it's always baffling when I see people out in the wild not typewriting (10 fingers) properly.
Only using 2-4 fingers for typing, staring at the keyboard.
You're slow, your posture is really bad and it prevents you from clearly communicating as longer sentences/phrases are painful.
Developers that don't touch type tend to not document/document less etc.
Sure, AI tooling will generate code for you, but you still need to type the prompt yourself. 😅
