@glyph@mastodon.social Agreed. I think the way to solve this problem is to always have three main planks in mind when building systems: 1) Open source 2) Ability to Self-host 3) Interoperability/Data Portability To my mind these are all as important as each other.

@cstross@wandering.shop I would be astounded if they have actually destroyed the lists of training material, or even the training data itself. You need all that if you are going to retrain a new version of your LLM in a different manner, and the "field" is moving so fast it would be corporate malfeasance to destroy your source training data. This seems like a very transparent lie to the court.

@dramypsyd I feel like you could build entire ethical and legal frameworks out of that idea.

@westhisup@gamepad.club ESPcam is the goto open source firmware for security cameras IMHO. You can roll your own very cheaply. Couple that with zoneminder for the server/storage/motion detection software.

@theropologist@beige.party It's strange to me that more isn't being made of this. IIRC, Trump is older now than Biden was when Biden ran for president. So if elected, Trump would be older at the end of his term than Biden is now. And yet niw we are seeing some republicans call for Biden to step down from being president for the last part of his term because he's too old. If these people are really concerned about a president's age, then Trump should be a non-starter.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Absolutely. I'd like to give a shout out to uBlock Origin, which has also been blocking local port scans. Sites you may think are trustworthy (ebay is a particularly bad offender) will use your browser to run a port scan on 127.0.0.1 for absolutely no good reason I can think of.
