2.0 is comiiing!!
After considerable effort, version 2.0 is about to arrive: a complete rewrite of the project to eliminate accumulated technical debt and establish a cleaner, more modern and manageable code base across the entire stack. More details can be found in the CHANGELOG -> https://gancio.org/v2/changelog.

with the aim of making the project more community-based, the idea is to have a weekly meeting for anyone who wants to chat, exchange ideas, share knowledge, and contribute to the project.
The first meeting will be at 1 p.m. (UTC) on Wednesday, November 5 on the IRC channel #gancio on irc.libera.chat and on a jitsi channel that will be shared there (and here).
we will talk about the status of the project and of release 2.x

The assumption here is that technology is not neutral. It does not depend (only) on how it is used.
Building software means taking a stand, making decisions, choices.
These choices start from a precise look at reality and ends implementing specific features, choose default values, simplify some flow and patterns while making difficult others.
Our effort in this project is not to build an alternative that mimics mainstream solutions, we respond to different values.

hey! you can find the source code for the webcomponent in the repo -> https://framagit.org/les/gancio/-/tree/master/webcomponents webcomponents are the standard way to specify a new html tag and you can implement them via vanilla js or using something else, our web component is written in svelte: https://framagit.org/les/gancio/-/blob/master/webcomponents/src/GancioEvents.svelte , you can experiment with it cloning the repo and rebuilding the component via `yarn build:wc` command, see https://framagit.org/les/gancio/-/blob/master/package.json?ref_type=heads#L20

@Mumonkan@mastodon.online @dobody@mastodon.design currently on gancio you can enter events from the website, or importing from ics (only one event at a time), or from the API (https://gancio.org/dev/api#add-a-new-event) or following someone from the fediverse (since the last version in addition to supporting other instances of gancio, you can also import events from wordpress, probably also from mobilizon groups but not tried yet).
I would like to implement an automation to import from ics, probably would be better via a plugin?

@roughnecks@livellosegreto.it nope, current Docker image does not come with sendmail installed. I had already started looking at it a while ago but it's something to study well it's not that immediate. feel free to experiment with a new image and share the results :D
