Noodling around with the #fuzz in the Danowah, I've read that Steve Ridinger designed it to be like the Foxx Tone Machine. It cleans up pretty well with the guitar volume.

Townshend did it with his SG: turn the neck pickup's vol down all the way, then switch rapidly between the bridge and middle positions on the switch.
I hear you on the open design. I'm okay with it, but I'm no pro.
I think I have a cheap one on one guitar that's the usual toggle outside, closed switch body inside - from a wiring harness bought from 'zon.

@RyanHyde@techhub.social I think the quality of a switch matters more than the type, and I think it's great that you fixed your guitar.
Any switch is going to wear out. A slider switch on my Jag needs me to wiggle it a bit to get it to connect sometimes.
The Les Paul style 3 ways I've seen look pretty durable under the hood to me, and they can do that stutter sound on a guitar with two volume knobs.
Humans will humanize anything.
