Scouring Sands Sortie 11
A rough match. We stormed the enemy base, but our King Crab, Fire Moth, and Blackjack went down to do it. We also lost too foot points of local troops who bravely helped locate the enemy thumpers.
Great game.
Our mechs were salvageable, but two named pilots are wounded and will miss the next mission.

Chambers manages to capture the horror of World War One. Except this was written twenty years before that, and instead about the Franco-Prussian War. While he wasn’t there for the siege of Paris, he certainly would have met many who loved through it.
Someone else had probably noticed this before, but I was stuck in traffic next to a ~~cyber~~ fascist truck today. It felt like the matrix was glitching and rendering a low poly count model up close instead of a high res one.

My group is headed to Imperial Hill next session, named for the old fort on the hill when this was the old border of the empire hundreds of years ago.
What are some interesting places to see there? Fun facts? Signature produce?
It does sit in the middle of Marsanne wine country.
Security Experts: We implemented these checks to prevent bots from hackers and spammers from accessing our system.
Corporate Executives Everywhere: Can we remove those checks so my “artificial intelligence” agent can access the system?

Watching the most recent season of For All Mankind.
Another friend finds the show boring, and I can see that. There isn’t a lot of action, it’s a slow drama. But it’s just right for me.
The tension is mostly political, but I’m here for it.
I need some interesting magic items to give my group. I must admit, Nimble’s sample magic items are very few and not the best.
I want to give them some useful utility items that won’t break the game but will expand their options.

Took a political survey and it had a terribly worded question about science.
Who are “the people running the scientific community”? There isn’t a single board of directors in charge of science.
Am I confident in scientists? Yes.
Am I confident our current government will fund any actual science? Absolutely not. They don’t want to know the truth about Climate Change.
Also noted, how many women did they list as potential democratic candidates for president?!?
Despite have an extra two weeks without game, I am ill prepared for tonight’s session. Just been too busy with life stuff to prepare. Hopefully I can prep enough to make things interesting.
Stupid cat woke me at 6am so I’m currently sleep deprived however.
I’ll try and sneak a nap after this status meeting.
Officially, D&D did not adopt individual initiative until 3rd edition. But I feel like it was a very common house rule at the time. Certainly every other rpg I played in the 80s did it (Rolemaster, Palladium Fantasy, Warhammer FRP, Talislanta).

How can you tell if a book is abridged? I got a used copy of Moby Dick, and it’s only 420 pages long. A lot of other editions are twice that.
It is 6x9 in, so bigger pages a paperback. Great Books of the Western World, Encyclopædia Britannica, University of Chicago, 1952.
Which I’m realizing was 101 years after the original was published.
Anyway, I decided to finally tackle this classic because my father read it recently and I want something to talk about next time I see him.
I’m planning on running B5 Horror on the Hill for my nimble group. I’m changing it up a bit, and running it in Nimble. Anyone revisit this old module? Stuff they particularly liked or had to absolutely change?
I’m removing the slide to the deeper dungeon, I’ll make another entrance they can find later.
