In my attempts to OptiplexMaxx I've given my nodes names based on rivers from my neck of the woods! 😍 Some servers are still pets!

I always keep my important backups close by!
If I can quote my good friend Cobus: I am getting ARMd and Dangerous! 😍 For a long time I wanted to experiment with running some Linux on ARM (beyond just a Raspberry Pi). And with the current day RAM and Storage prices, the @hi_minisforum@bird.makeup MS-R1 with 64GB of RAM and 1TB of storage at ~ $640 is a steal!
Running @obsidian@mas.to without a GUI can be tricky! Well, with some virtual frame buffers and x11 forwarding, I made it work! 👏 Agents rejoice!
With a future release of a CLI version, I hope that soon my post will be irrelevant! 😅 But do check it out here:
How about a HP workstation for $18 😍
64 GB DDR4 ECC is the gold mine here
Digging through some ancient backups I found a screenshot of my desktop circa 2005. Oh, what an edgy teenager I was back then! There was an art in desktops back then! Do you have some early screenshots to share? 😍
Spent the day learning/exploring/trying out Ratatui. As *the* TUI framework for Rust, it has always been quite daunting to me. But I've decided to give it a good go. And yeah, it's amazing! 😍
With all the needed built in widgets (plus a plethora of more 3rd party ones). The use of channels for communication between threads (for non-blocking events) has been tripping me up for the longest time, but I think I've got it now.
I have some interesting ideas to update few of my command line tools to have TUIs (now that everyone likes them again 💘)
I always thought caching was hard! A caching layer felt like an unnecessary complexity for anything I build. However, with the ability to one-click-deploy caching layers, I find I was wrong! 😅 So, recently I recorded a video and wrote a blog on the things I've learned about caching and how to do it on AWS, with some Rust 🦀 and Valkey 😍
Check out the blog and the video below:

There is something special about this Pentium II server I picked from the trash. See if you can spot it at the end.
Everyone is MacMinimaxxing for agents. Guess I should DellOptiplexmaxx!
What is the most cursed storage system I could make? This is a RAID0 array running on 32 of the worst USB flash drives money can buy. 🤞 Right now, on top of it I am running an Amazon S3 compatible object storage system. Let's see how many 9s can I get!
Fun fact: This is how Amazon S3 Buckets are created! 🪣
So: An older HP ProLiant server and 32 of the cheapest ebay USB Drives, all running in RAID0. I'm going to build the least reliable Object Storage money can buy (without resorting to floppy disks). I'm gonna call it S4 (Scrappy Simple Storage Service). Do you have a better name? Let me know!
Did you know that you can use the CLI and SDK to upload objects to other clouds!? This was a fun little experiment this weekend, where I got to upload files to Nebius's object store using my tools built for S3 buckets!
Since the release of obsidian-sync has made my initial blog post outdated, I've decided to give a little update with the current instructions on how to setup a headless obsidian sync on homelab server!

Finally! I saw a S3 Bucket experience a race condition!
