Trapped in bed by a fearsome creature, using my chest as a pillow.
Got a visit from a very special guest.
Took an evening walk down to the bay with The Entity.
While cleaning out some old clutter, I found a pile of unopened christmas cards with gift money inside.
I haven't spent money on non-survival things since last year, so I got some deeply discounted board games I've been meaning to try. Looking forward to inviting folks over to play 'em!
It's warm and breezy enough to open all the windows, and my office is filled with cicada songs and cricket chirps, and a smell like sun-dried hay.
Wanted to share this. A new, full-featured analogue TV/VHS font, with tons of special characters and symbols built in.

Spent the morning playtesting some of Benjamin Schmauss and Alita Robertson's WIP revisions to the Clockwork rules for Root, for adding non-player factions to the game.
It's nice to craft a solo Root scenario to play, and I'm Impressed by how simple and effective the new Clockwork rules are!

Good news:
My Dad's ability to drive seems to be unaffected by the Stroke! Made it for a 2 hour round trip drive to the nearest Tractor Supply, to get some quail feed for the birds.
Bad news:
Pretty sure the stress of riding shotgun for that has shaved 1.2 years off my life.
Alternatively, if you have a job for a pretty clever tech artist and game designer, can sponsor a visa, and won't downsize or go out of business in a year like the last few, hit my line!
I know, "If you can't have the one you love, love the one you're with." But I'm so tired of living with Capitalism.
I just want make things that are good and interesting. I have no interest in finding new and exciting ways to parasitize a society, without quite killing the last shred of good in it.
I round up to 40, when I'm trying to dissuade the interest of a 20-something-year-old who starts hitting on me.
I have realized the flaw in this strategy, however, in that it seems to have the opposite of the intended effect.

A Miniso appeared in Metro Detroit since last time I was here, so I checked it out.
And yes, they are playing a KK Slider cover of Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise.
A show about a heroic junior producer and her animation team, keeping a struggling studio afloat.
Some day it'd be nice to work in an office like this, I think.

@SamanthaJaneSmith@lgbtqia.space I'm usually more cynical, but I was getting the sense this was to rekindle a love of space, esp. in young people (hence all the historic firsts, the excitement of setting up trans lunar infrastructure for future lunar presence, and the tech being used to give a sense of humanity and realness to the vehicle and it's occupants throughout the mission).
I also got the sense this was more positioned in *spite* of the current administration in the US that's been gutting NASA. Not a single mention of the Trump administration, or even the federal government.
I read it more as NASA trying to rise above the current moment, to show that the US isn't it's government. Its people can still be international partners to the world, and still do good and inspiring things together with them.
I'm happy it's happening, and suppose that even my usually cynical heart sees this all pretty differently.

It's like a non-spatial country without strict borders, apart from those created by language barriers. I essentially live there.
It's occupied by the US, and other geospatial countries, that have colonized it to varying degrees. Those also claim my neighbors on the Internet as citizens. So it's a sort of dual citizenship. Two places overlapped.
I frequently cross into the country that's colonized my area, geospatially. I get groceries there, work there, study and socialize there, etc. I participate in political action there to preserve the liberty and health of it, of the Internet, and of other countries I feel connected to/spend time in through the Internet.

Looks like they're distilling their card game mechanics into a a single session co-op boardgame, with a more zoomed out scale. Seems neat!

We've got the capacity to self reflect and change our behavior. There's a world in which it's normal to see ourselves as part of our environment and planet, living in conversation with and as part of its systems. Just as humans are capable of kindness to each other, we are just as capable of acting as responsible stewards, if we hold ourselves accountable to be that.

I'm currently US-based, but I've been working remotely in Ireland and the UK for almost 5 years, and am actively seeking to relocate. I'll look into their game design roles, and anything else that might be a fit.
