I don't know why people keep acting like making trans people feel included is so difficult or complicated when all it takes for me is to see a "non-binary" option on a medical form to feel ten pounds lighter.
Testosterone has fundamentally changed my personhood because we're getting some arctic winds right now and instead of being filled with dread and despair my soul is being soothed and I don't know who I am anymore.
So like.
As the testosterone starts to really reshape my body and my living situation lends me more freedom in my gender expression, I am appalled at the street harassment I've been receiving. These are the comments/behaviors I've gotten in the last 11 days:
"Must be nice to declare yourself a pedophile in public"
*completely enraged stare, mumbled swearing under the breath. If I didnt know any better I'd assume she was literally cursing me with some kind of dark enchantment*
*I've lost count of how many people have just stared and laughed at me, usually older cishet white men*
*a slur in french canadian slang*
*someone praying to God at me*
"Just so you know brother the fuzz gives it away" referring to my baby beard
"Something something FUCKING LIBERAL"
Now. Obviously thats all Not Okay but what stands out to me is that I'm being harassed like I'm trans fem, not trans masc. I dont know, it's interesting because we love to debate at length and often to a community damaging degree who's more oppressed or othered or who experiences more violence and obviously this is regionally hyperspecific to me but in my experience? When I presented more masc with my now apparently readable masc body, I was left the fuck alone. Even when my body wasnt as obviously masc I was only harassed if I was doing some kind of PDA with one of my AFAB partners. But now I get lashouts from the men I confuse or the women who's puritanical womanhood I threaten, it's eye opening.
What if I actually was trans fem?
@faithisleaping@anarres.family my whole thing with passing culture is that it just upholds cishet normativity and in a roundabout way, a eurocentric patriarchy and like.
As a queer person..
Why would you want to do that?
Other than the conditional privileges, of course.

Look.
If you are on T and suspect you have vaginal atrophy talk to your doctor and just take the damn estrogen.
I know estrogen is scary but it won't affect your bottom growth or T levels and you will feel...so much better.
Trust me...
Just do it.
The more my body masculinizes the more my gender presentation dreams become hyper feminine and when they told me my "tastes might change" post T I..did not prepare for an obsession with tutus and hot pink but here we are I guess.
Anyway I hate that young me was right in that I didnt really have to be in high school and I should've been put in something at at least college level so I could be stimulated properly and not have the need to act out...
@Hteph@blahaj.zone honestly thats super valid. You can make sure the fire is warm for when I come back with fresh sasquatch meat, a battle I won with my bare hands alone.

@faithisleaping@anarres.family yeahh, I get that. I was extremely lucky and got saddled with a queer cis man when I got my face mole removed and I guess he just knew every queer health practitioner and referred me, my literal gay angel. Also getting T is so much more annoying so I feel your pain. I will say once you see the benefit the dysphoria of taking the unpreferred hormone kinda fades away, at least it did for me. Everyone needs both yknow
Anyway, as trans men and mascs we should normalize accepting the responsibility to seem safe to women and other queer people. We can discourse forever about how man hating sentiment makes us uncomfortable and how we have no structural power over these groups but the reality is we look and act like men and thats triggering for people vulnerable to patriarchal abuse. Cis men also have to prove their allyship, this is not unique to us, and not transphobia.
It wasn't the "whoopsie" kind of misgendering either it was the "I fundamentally disbelieve your personhood" kind of misgendering. And just..
Jesus christ.
Sometimes, with my family, its almost fine, other times its absolutely terrible. Today was absolutely terrible.
@JaxVent@lgbtqia.space if you're eating healthier, youre probably eating a more fibrous diet, making you poop more. Also the reduction in stress from no longer being ill also helps you poop better.
But like,
Congrats
Chat I did it, I am volunteering at the trans library as we speak okay, I'm so proud of myself, this time last year I was too panicked to even think of appearing here.
Damon lore: I have a weird phobia of pools. Natural water? Totally fine. A pool with water in it but no people? Fucked up. Unnatural. Not okay. The devils work.
Another thing they don't tell you about transitioning is that you'll secretly form an emotional attachment to all of your surgeons and get just a little heartbroken when their job is done and you'll never see them again.
@introvertcatto@lgbtqia.space is that not the traditional nuclear family? Have we all not been working ourselves to death for the blissful prospect of raising 5 cats with the she/they love of our lives??
@dinozombie@metalhead.club yeah, their ballads were so amazing. I can tolerate Hail To The King and everything before that but Hail To The King pushes it for me. Im devastated, Avenged Sevenfold was like top 3 favorite bands of all time for me.
@elias@lgbtqia.space yeah, and like, dont get me wrong, there is specifically anti trans masc sentiment that comes from the discourse (I can't let go of the testosterone is poison discourse, for example) but I think even that ultimately comes from the trauma of living in a patriarchal system. Sure, its not right, but most of the time its coming from people who have no power over us so I dont see the point in causing further divides and in fighting.
