I live in remote places and complain about internet connectivity. Perpetual traveller, practically living out of a suitcase since 1999. Founder–engineer at Strangecode. I’m responsible for too many computers and too few humans. My exit strategy is Śīla→Samādhi→Prajñā.

@parisba@cloudisland.nz I may be one of the first people this happened to. At least, I was the first person to post about it. Since then, I’ve had dozens of people contact me, begging to help them unlock their accounts (what can I do??) so it’s not uncommon.
The takeaway for others: never use Apple gift cards.

.gitignore lists patterns for files that are part of the project’s expected layout (e.g., build artifacts, temporary files) so they aren’t added to the repository, but the rules are shared with everyone who clones the repo.
.git/info/exclude works like a personal .gitignore that is not committed. It’s meant for files you don’t want Git to track but that aren’t relevant to other collaborators. Use it for local‑only files like IDE caches/settings.
@GrahamDowns@mastodon.africa @Viss@mastodon.social Because git status doesn’t recuse, I like to use fd --type f which by default excludes files matching patterns in .gitignore, .git/info/exclude, et al.
I see people being misled by the deceptively named “Retirement and Personal Savings Protection Act” (A.G. file 25-0041A1).
It will have zero benefit for normies. It doesn’t cut current taxes, and there is no pending new tax aimed at ordinary-income Californians. Its target is 25-0024A1, the billionaire-tax initiative.
It’s funded by tech billionaires Sergey Brin, Michael Moritz, Eric Schmidt, Patrick Collison, et al. It’s a red herring. Don’t fall for it.
The NASA Artemis II launch is T-minus three hours (~ 15:24 PT)! The livestream is playing now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf_UjBMIzNo

@SRAZKVT@tech.lgbt @Viss@mastodon.social I know but I never heard of . git/exclude before, I had to look it up.
@windsheep@infosec.exchange I like it too, it's the best macOS Seatbelt wrapper I've found. However, it's worth keeping in mind that it's a new project and the API is rapidly changing. It has a ways to go before it's full-featured and stable.
Bullshit website blocks copy/cut/paste? This is the bookmarklet to unblock it (works everywhere except ):
```
