@toastedlynx@meow.social I've been dying to document my event photography this way, and for some reason I'm struggling to find any final footage from other people - YouTube is full of people standing in front of a camera and telling you you can put a GoPro on it, and completely lacks anyone who actually uses it like that. I intend to fix that inconsistency.

@toastedlynx@meow.social Exactly! I freaking love photography as a process, and it's unfair that the work that goes into getting a shot is basically invisible. Heck, I think it's an unspoken rule among photographers to avoid getting fellow photographers in the frame (not that I'd like to show up on pictures, hence the hotshoe PoV).

@TechConnectify An incredible video! As someone who's only seen a car's internals as they were being abused (or, more rarely, lovingly resuscitated) by Wade and James of Garbage Time, it's great to see a more sober and educational angle. Also, I've never seen a timing chain (the duo above hasn't dealt with engines that new), and I'd love to know why the timing chain tensioner is moving repeatedly. Does it have to do with the dynamic timing adjustment you said you wouldn't be getting into?

@karb I used Google Assistant before Google's rapid enshittification phase really kicked off. I switched to iOS later but never used Siri on that, rather relying on making elaborate scripts in their Shortcuts app, an approach that felt nicer and more reliable to me. All of that happened before the advent of LLMs. My current stance is that I will not use a voice assistant that is not open-source and developed ethically (an example of an unethically-developed voice assistant would be one that promotes the use of LLMs trained on stolen and scraped data).

@leoschuldiner23 This mirrors my sentiment precisely. It feels like the centralised social media only exists to divide people and make them consume. The Fedi, despite its distributed nature, exists to let people connect and share.

@Adorable_Sergal@hachyderm.io The phrase is an invitation to consider what we think we know about the world, and how we look at it. Yeah, it doesn't change anything about your day-to-day life, but it brings about the understanding that the senses we are given do not accurately represent the reality, and cannot be relied on entirely for understanding of the nature of the world around us. It both grounds you and invites you to try and find out more. Besides, nobody's ever been hurt by a little perspective.
