The real energy use of agentic AI "My personal and professional AI usage now emits a bit more per year than running an electric clothes dryer, and about half as much as driving an electric car 11,500 miles in California or taking one San Francisco to New York round-trip flight in economy. It is about 8% of the annual emissions of a typical American gasoline car, and roughly 2% of the average American’s ~18-ton annual greenhouse gas footprint." https://www.theclimatebrink.com/p/the-real-energy-use-of-agentic-ai #ai #climatecrisis

@noplasticshower@infosec.exchange @patrickcmiller@infosec.exchange you and Melanie haven't discussed Yegge's latest, have you? Or have any opinions on it? I'd love Dave Chalmers' take too :)

@simon Is there any need to install the app, or could I just copy-and-paste the README?

@anthropy What does she use it for?

@robinhood@yiff.life I suppose the fear of clicking is due to being worried that you'll do something irreversible, which, if you are a clicker, seems silly. But especially in super complex applications like Word, that fear is not entirely unjustified.

@lindsey So people come up and deposit their bits of paper in a scanner? What's the class size?

@carnage4life@mas.to Have you decided to shrink the size of your team based on these new techniques?
