While starting Uni (2006!), I was a part-time IT labourer at my former school. There were computers for programming classes, and I think they had 32 MB RAM at that point. Sometimes Windows OS would stop booting on them, and I would come with my personal handy LiveCDs collection. Linux LiveCDs (Knoppix, Slax) were cool, but didn't boot on 32 MB as I remember. But FreeBSD one, called Frenzy, booted, and I could inspect the hardware condition, mount disk, repair filesystems (FAT and NTFS).

This is the best kind of hacker conference talk: little-known subject or project, opening new dimensions of possibilities for curious people not afraid to experiment and put in effort and who self-select to take interest or not. Not yet another rehashing of basics of commonplace matters (be it tech or social), not yet another retro-tech deep dive. The speaker is not holding club mate bottle on stage to make people notice their street cred.

Slightly unformfortable installing #archlinux driver package from package maintainer xx777 which downloads from github account a5a5aa555oo (neither have even remotely real names).
Thanks @fastmail@mastodon.social for the recovery feature! I contacted support, hoping there's a chance to recover my screwed calendar events upon request. Being told to go to a regular self-service function in the web interface just blew my mind.

Alternatively the noise (dB) or transformation efficiency (Pa/W?) level could be legislated, not the power. We see plenty of historical cases when thresholds deemed "enough" were surpassed because some bottlenecks were relieved.
#ReallyUsefulBox don't make them to #EuroBox sizes, but to different odd sizes. Sad.

I need to print this on paper. But I'm out of power cords with IEC connectors, which my printer needs. Oh, why didn't I order spares?
Oh, this is crazy stupid, but I can use the input power cord from my server rack UPS. Will it hold the power for long enough for me to do my printing? I'll go for it.
