Subject: [Action Required] Important AWS Account Notice
As previously communicated on 2025-09-30 in an email we sent at 23:45 UTC while you were on annual leave, AWS will be sunsetting all Amazon ElasticJizzWailer (EJW) nodes, starting yesterday. Please migrate your workloads to Amazon CloudFunk™, which is conceptually and morally incompatible with the legacy YAML-based EJW configuration language.
Please use the CloudFunk Pricing Confabulator[1] briefly and unsuccessfully, then hit the button and hope that your budget alerts catch anything egregious. Please also stare hopelessly at the Required IAM Roles[2] documentation before granting wildly over-broad permissions in the hope that the API calls start working.
It'd be nice as an industry to have something in between 'vibe coding' and 'artisanal burnout'
Triumphantly played my seat reservation only to walk straight into the train seating trap card: an elderly person sitting there already
I think this gets at the idea that a decent chunk of the popularity of LLMs among many software engineers is in some way a reaction to how terrible our tools are. We largely code like we're still using punched cards, so having something that'll handle the mechanics of making holes with minimal setup is always going to be attractive.
One interesting thing about cross-border rail travel is getting an IMSI catcher notification pretty much directly on the border between each pair of Germany, Belgium, France, and the UK. But maybe there's an innocent explanation for that?
